I will be posting daily blogs as I explore the Spanish langauge. Some days I might post one word, one phrase, multiple words and phrases, or grammatical rules. Whatever I do post, it will not be very long. This post is longer because it includes my background on the language. I wanted to put this out there to show you (and myself) my baseline.

I do know a little bit of Spanish from my time in Peru and taking Spanish in grades 1-4. I know:

  • Hola - Hello
  • Adios - Goodbye
  • Buenos dias - Good morning
  • Buenos noches - Goodnight
  • Buenos tardes - Good afternoon
  • Hasta luego - See you later (until later)
  • Hasta manana - See you tomorrow
  • Cuanto cuesta? - How much is it?
  • Donde esta? - Where is it?
  • Donde esta el bano? - Where is the bathroom?
  • Lo siento - I'm sorry
  • Perdoname - Pardon me
  • Some numbers, probably confident about up to 50.
    Example: 45 = cuarenta y cinco
  • Some colors
  • Some random words (huevos = eggs)

I've been trying to learn common phrases by reading a few every night before bed. Here are the ones I have learned so far this week:

  • Cuantos hay? - How many are there?
  • Hay muchos - There are many
  • Estoy perdido - I am lost
