It is taking the fun away and it feels useless to spend time trying to write thoughtful comments when someone else is cut and pasting spam and running up points t o get themselves recognized. Worse even is that people playing by the mutually-agreed rules of fair play are afraid to downvote because of certain retaliation from the scofflaw.
