Since I'm new here, at the beginning I was really excited to be receiving a comment at all. LOL. After a couple days though.. and a couple of comments saying "Good post brother" (I am female) I decided to stop upvoting them and replying. Like you, although I'm sure its on a much smaller scale , it seems Im getting some comments that seem longer and thought out but they really have nothing to do with my post (which I dont know what to do with, ignore it?..) I read somewhere on Steemit that spammers usually have a 25% upvote success rate, which is a decent chance I suppose so that's why they continue to do it.

yes, it happens and not only if you are newbie ;)
Do not reply or upvote anyhting you think could be a SPAM, I think you should not flag also atm because you do not have so much SteemPower, means you should save your bandwith for posting and comment around better.
Btw you got a new follower :)
Thanks! I look forward to your posts too! Yeah, I’m not really the flagging type in real life so I don’t think I’ll ever do it here! I’m very non confrontational lol! (🙈) the bandwidth issue was defintely scary the first time i encountered it (thought I was being banned or something 😂) man, there is so much to learn here! Anyways.. back to learning for me!
hehehe I know, it is kind of strange but it is also to fight a bit the SPAM so people can not create a lot of new accounts and spam the network without the need to buy Steem Power for to do it.
and you will learn, it just take a bit of time. Btw, do not hesitate to ask if you have any question.
I think I’ll take you up on that sometime, thank you!
"Btw, do not hesitate to ask if you have any question."
Now this is what I believe the Steemit community is all about...or should be.
Is how it should be and (at least for me and many others I know) how it is actually ;)
Steem-on!
Pd: also for you, if any questions now you know :)
