I totally agree.
In fact its been written in "Chronicles from the Future" that humanity will reach Mars in the future and colonize the planet, but after a heavy meteorological event this colony will be destroyed and only a few of the people there will manage to come back to Earth.
That will be the first and last attempt of the humanity to colonize an extraterrestrial planet. Unfortunately, human beings today have lost their connection with God, but there is a hope somewhere in the future that they will find their way to Him.
What if instead of wasting such a big amount of money to install a low orbit telecommunications system, give it to building schools for promoting arts and human oriented studies so the future of humans will be more spiritual oriented instead of material centered?
Again, somewhere in the far future there is a hope for that to happen.
Until then we have to think how can we change our thoughts to a brighter ones and instead of promoting pain and misery and everything that makes a human look like a "Sinful" disoriented creature start to promote love and compassion dreaming and happiness.
