"Counting Stars" acrylic on canvas painting

One of my favorite past-times is looking at the stars. When I find myself in a place that I can actually see the glory of the Milky Way, it is most inspiring to behold! Within this vast spiral galaxy, we are cradled in interstellar arms. Often obscured by light pollution, it is easy to forget that it is even there ...and that we are here (and that we can be see like an abstract spec in the heavens to be observed from light years away)!

Our solar system is but a tiny spec, and we are just a spec within a spec. Even the tiniest looking stars are, indeed, immense in comparison to our finite perception! It is humbling and empowering to think that we are part of such beauty.

This piece is an expression of how I feel when I am able to take in the magnitude of our illuminated “mother” in the sky…the very center of our existence. I feel small, but connected. Such vastness fills my spirit. I would try to count the stars, but it would be too tall a task and so I merely honor them through this painting.
