Doorway to heaven

When you move in to a new rented place, it looks cold and so impersonal. It all started with a friend moving into this one room apartment and it looked so boring and drab. I don't have any before pictures but these are some of the pics i took after i was finished.

Being really lazy i stalled taking pictures till he was about to shift out :D

He had this connecting door to the apartment next door which was brown and ugly, since he loves stars and dogs i painted this on his door. I had full intentions to paint the boy, dog and the grass but it was the last day so i just put paper stencils.

I started with sandpaper, smoothing the surface of the door. Than applied two coats of primer followed by two coats of midnight blue acrylic colour. Tools used: flat 3 inch brush and soft cloth roller. It took me two days to paint since the weather was a little cold, it took time drying. For stars and moon i used texture white acrylic paint and used my sable hair brush (not available anymore). I painted stars with the stippling process.

"In a drawing or painting, the dots are made of pigment of a single colour, applied with a pen or brush; the denser the dots, the darker the apparent shade—or lighter, if the pigment is lighter than the surface. This is similar to—but distinct from—pointillism, which uses dots of different colours to simulate blended colours."

This i could not finish, no matter how many dots you put it is never complete. It gets boring in one go so i placed a brush and bowl with paint near the door. Everytime i went there to visit him i started putting dots.

The cozy corner beside glass window. Since the room has a whole window in glass it used to get a lot of sun. I stuck some perforated paper on the side glass panel. This pic is taken at 7 am, the light stayed for an hour or two than the sun changed axis.

The poster has the Neil Armstrong quote illustrated by #zenpencils. I love his art and the beautiful way he shows famous quotes in a comic format. "It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small."

You can read it here: https://zenpencils.com/comic/76-neil-armstrong-a-giant-among-men/

The light somehow gives it an ethereal look.

In all it was fun doing up the space. Hope you have fun going through my work too.

That’s a really neat door! Plus I like the effect the paper has when the sun shines through.

Thankyou for appreciating :) Just ordinary paper i put but gives great results :D
