All about the power today - solar power

Afternoon anyone who stops by.

Busy fitting some much needed power supply, the aim is to power a workshop for as little cost as possible, plus be able to fit an alarm independent from the power grid.

So this system I had tried to do last year, I had mistakenly bought a control regulator box that was not of high enough voltage.

The box above remedies that. (up to 75 volt, the other one was 12 volt)

I gave my single solar panel a good clean first.

It works, eureka moment. The battery I am using is a deep cycle one, it can go below 11 volts and still be charged back up, car batteries do not like doing that, they warp the internal plates at 10.9 volts or there about.

Added bonus, the people I bought this place off fitted a relic of a car stereo in this garage/workshop now. So no I am not going to replace it, I am simply going to wire it up and use it. :-)

Sorry about the picture quality, my new light took star of the show.

It is raining on and off, so at least I can see what I am doing in here now, and at very low cost, using recycled energy/light. Using recycled motorbike parts, the lights in there were from bike back brake light bulbs.

25 degrees it seems, and that is the metric of c not f.

So we have good current too.

I know j8 on here likes his solar power also.

I have joined your club, and have no excuses now not to work into the night.

The reason for this is twofold, me fitting this system, someone stole the power cord that was feeding this workshop, it was before I came here, and I did not want to give them the chance to do it again.

So now I have to fit the inverter and fit an alarm too.

So off I go after some food, have fun folks.

Awesome mate that's the way well done and getting an MPPT controller is the best type for getting the most out of solar panels👍

Works well that is for sure, and not overly expensive, we will see how it all pans out.

At my campsite i have 150 W 12 volt solar panels hooked up to two car batteries . Thought it would be enough to power my 12 volts cooler . But it didn't , only some hours during the day i put the thing on now , As i also want to reload my phone laptop and battery light . The car batteries are getting worse now , not long and they will be goners .
But for now i am 10 days in a nice house from a couple that left on a trip to Crete on a shiny old Triumph 900 . If i could watch the dog and be in there house ?... man i feel lucky and thankful for that offer . Normal power , wifi , even freaking Netflix ..... and a solar powered hot shower . And it's only a 10 min walk from the beach , but a lot of rain for now , so i enjoy the view from the bedroom balcony witch looks down to the sea .

Have fun fixing your workplace power while i soak myself in luxury ;-)
