Social Media Wars...Snapchat Unveils New Features... Will Big Blue Copy?

in #socialmedia8 years ago

Social Media Unicorn Company,Snapchat unveiled a few new features today,Snap Inc which is constantly innovating and adding new feautures to their service have added some new interesting feautures that Facebook would probably copy down the line.

The Snapchat messaging app now lets users send messages for as long as they’d like (previously picture messages were limited to 10-second clips). Users can now also infinitely loop any videos posted to their daily Stories page, instead of the video disappearing as soon as it’s finished.

There have been some additions of some new interesting drawing tools: Users can now draw shapes with an emoji ,instead of just colored lines, and there’s a “magic eraser” tool that’s supposed to erase parts of an image and replace them with what the app believes is in the background, although it’s not quite so accurate yet, below is a preview by Mike Murphy a technology reporter at QZ.

Snapchat said it had 158 million daily active Snapchat users for the quarter ending Dec. 31, and 161 million for the month of December.

Facebook-owned Instagram announced a knock-off of Snapchat’s daily story function in August, and by April, it had amassed more users than Snapchat itself.

The thing with Snapchat is that it has similar feautures with Instagram( Thanks to Zucks), so much people don't see the difference between them, so people just choose one and Instagram is almost always the first choice becaue Facebook is always leveraging its influence in promoting Instagram.

Let see what happens down the line as Facebook might probably copy the frautures down the line.

Snap is a sleeping giant. As soon as they start monetizing their assets, they will be up with the big boys. They only had the IPO a couple months ago. Look at them in 2019. They will be a power house.

Facebook is a big problem for Snapchat, they would have to come up with something unique to maintain their position in the social media world.

@denwa

They need to diversify.Facebook is running almost all the platform now.i won't be suprised when they bid for Twitter and even Snapchat itself.

@oluwoleolaide

Zuckerberg is like a Hawk, when he saw the Potential of Instagram in its early stages, he bid for it and the developers sold it to Facebook for Around $1 billion.

People could not understand Zuckerberg Interest in a company that was just 550 days old, they felt he bought it at an outrageous price.

Fast Forward to 2014 he bought Whatsapp for $19 billion, that is when people realised he practically stole Instagram.

Snap Inc managed to reject all offers by Zuckerberg for Snapchat, so the war continues

@ogochukwu

I bet they can hold on to it.
Or they up their game to stay afloat with the likes of Facebook and Steemit😎

Steemit is making History, i don't think @ned would sell Steemit to anyone at any Price

@oluwoleolaide

what that means was ,snapchat uping their game like Steemit and Facebook.i'll run a riot if @ned tries to sell Steemit😠

Ya pintrist (which is owned by facebook) will keep copying them. But the one thing Snap has that the facebook empire doesn't, is teenagers. SNAP is the in thing right now in schools. Where as facebook's users are getting older and and not to many younger kids are singing up for it. Facebook is turning so political these days, kids push politics away at their age.
