You share your Hive post to twitter and it's automatically seen by all sorts of people in the twittersphere, right? Wrong.
Yes, you've signed up for #POSH and that's great. Yes, you're rewarded with tokens for doing that. Awesome!!
But is your Hive twitter share being SEEN by anyone other than your Hive buddies? Unless you have a large twitter following outside of fellow Hivers, the chance is your content isn't being appreciated by many.
How to improve that?
By using clever hashtags OUTSIDE of our shared Hive vocabulary.
Twitter recommends that the "sweetspot" for hashtags is 2-3 per post. Maximum.
Take out the obligatory #Hive and you're left with only 1 or 2 if you want to gain optimum traction.
Today, I saw a post on twitter using these hashtags:
#HIVE #POSH #ecency #life #food #originalcontent #hiveworks #HiveBlogShare
A nice try, but one that reaches back into our Hive community, and not outwards to enable content discovery. And risks the tweet being flagged, and shadowbanned, as potential spam.
If you're registered for the POSH initiative, no need to use the hashtag as well. My example was a post for cinnamon rolls, including a recipe and how to. By using the hashtags #recipe #cooking #baking or #DIY her post would have had a MUCH greater organic reach. Which would have served both her, and the Hive platform more. Very broad hashtags, like #Life #originalcontent etc are unlikely to yield new followers or much practical content discovery. Unlike #recipe.
How to work out what hashtags are more effective? Trending is not always best. And research is needed.
Want to get REALLY SMART? Tweet the same post out twice or three times in the same 5 min block, but with only one hashtag varied each time.
EG Tweet 1: #hive #baking #recipe
Tweet 2: #hive #foodie #recipe
Tweet 3: #hive #baking #cooking
And then analyze the organic reach results after a week. Prepare to be amazed at how the difference between hashtags effects how much reach your post achieves.
You can TAG the @hiveblogshare acocunt rather that use it as a #hashtag.

Another useful resource is https://trendstwitter.com/ But remember, using a trending twitter hashtag doesn't mean content discovery, per se. It CAN increase the odds if it's a logical connection, but it's something to be used after some learning.
