Can we get rid of these overexcited guys on Fox Sports network or at least ask them to calm down a notch? No, really, is it so overwhelming to see Russia beating Saudi Arabia? Is it really? I used to be very excited every time my village would play a neighboring village, when I was a kid that is. I don't bring it to the table once the World Cup is being discussed, do I? How about a weathered analysis, with acknowledgement that non of these teams are anything to go nuts about, and that one is obviously better than the other, and that even though that specific one clearly was expected to win still it's not likely to get them anywhere? How about at least pretending, for a change, to actually know a thing or two about football?
It is that these kind of festivities over nothing smell fake, and sound fake, and feel fake. We can tell if it's phony, any of us can, from dedicated soccer fans to ones who just started to tune in. You want to turn those newbies away, that's the way to do it - feed them a tonne of crap about a monumental success of Germany over Singapore for example, and you achieve it. Then you wonder why is it that the US populi don't really follow the World Cup as much - well, unqualified commentary could be one reason, among others...
Then again, what's up about inviting Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Clarence Zeedorf to the studio and letting them say just two words before cutting them off to never see or hear from them ever after? Do they actually think listening to Fernando Fiore is more interesting and enlightening? Over Zlatan?! You give me a glimpse of this unique chance to hear what these guys have to say about the ongoing World Cup and then you just kill it off? Really?!
No wonder the Fox coverage has a negative feedback on social media: https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2018/06/14/Media/Fox-WC.aspx . And then officials complaining as if it was about the British accents, or rather about getting rid of those. It has nothing to do with the accents, nothing at all! What it has to do with is the competence, or rather the absence of such!
