Inside Game Review - Get Rekt and Rekt and Try Again

Inside is a fairly new 2D platform game made by Playdead in the last quarter of 2017. Well we all witnessed the increase of popularity and support to Indie games in the last couple of years. However this one is quite different and from my perspective it is just dazzling. In my last article I made a short review about Inside's older and darker cousin Limbo. If you played Limbo you will immedeatly notice the the similar but slighlty different design in the background and also developed gameplay. You can download this game form Steam for approximetely 8 dollars or you can buy the Limbo and Inside bundle for approximetely 12 dollars.

Well just like Limbo the game starts like in a mysterious way no background story no lore about what is going on and it starts with a giant explotion and you will again play as a small boy and you start to run in to forest but not after a while you will notice that something is quite wrong and something is missing. You will see some shady business going on in the background and you will notice some people were loading figures like a human like a clone to the trucks and you will find yourself in the middle of some weird place , well if something shady is going on ofcourse there will be guards to cover the shady business or experiment and you will eventually meet with the guards.

What will happen when you encounter the guards ? They will violently murder you or strangle you to death or you will try to avoid them by running to another direction. Obviously like most of the 2D platform games you will die a lot and you will learn from your mistakes and try to pass the obstacles and guards just like Limbo but I must say that Inside has just a different playstyle than Limbo. You just need to learn what to do avoid your almost inevitable death.

The game continues like a whole story unlike the Limbo and you will most likely to be chewed by dogs , shot to death by guards , fall to your death from cliffs , you will drown and if you ever manage to success to avoid these things the most annoying but most fun part is awaiting for you and those are the inevitable puzzles and riddles in these games. However the best part is you are not alone in this game because you will notice that you can control the humanoids to solve your puzzles with a weird mind controling device.

Well I must admit that the puzzles are a lot easier than the Limbo but overall they are great to when we need to think all the indie platform games made in the recent years. Only thing I didn't like about puzzles are they are too obvious and you are always in the middle the platform is too clear it is just like they created for you to solve the puzzles. However there are some aspects I want to talk about what makes Inside an amazing gaming experience first of all there isn't any UI and that makes your gaming experience pretty smooth and you feel like you are playing in a Sandbox no visual clutters at all.

Well it is a confusing game and you will find yourself clicking everywhere in the background in order to solve a puzzle and you will find it from time to time , the random clicking is a little bit annoying it disturbed my gameplay a little but still. The things that can kill you in this game is pretty much limitless so I can't tell that clicking random places are easy way to pass the traps. You may think that you outsmarted the game from time to time but it will definetely got you and you will get rekt over and over again untill you have no motivation to continue the game , it is pretty much exhausting but it is what we gamers like mostly a challange for a real warrior ! However things get easier when you get your Mind Control Device and start to control humanoids.

Obviously Inside atmospher is amazing and if you want to capture the essence of this atmosphere in the best way I highly reccomend you to play the game play with headphones the harmony of the sound and background design is just spectacular. A lot of my friends playing games with muting the games I don't make that mistake. Obviously there are a lot of things to talk about design of the gameplay , however I always like to keep these short and I will leave the discovery part to you fellow gaming enthusiasts.

The ending was again contreversial like Limbo but if you loved limbo and other 2D platform games like this one I highly reccomend you to instantly buy it , because you are going to LOVEEEEEEEEEEE it ! and it will be the best 10 dollar you ever spend.
