When I opened my Steemit account, I had very clear intentions about what to post with it. @anomadsoul is meant to publish adventure related and long term traveling content with the ocasional community building and contest posts. I don´t like to get off topic because when I introduced myself to you in early May ´17, this was my content proposal and that is why you follow me.
I have been a passive member of @thewritersblock for the past 3-4 months and, while I enjoy reading its members fiction stories and lurking around this awesome discord server (https://discord.gg/PJ6dYyc) created by writers for writers, where you can find workshops, make some friends, share your posts but most importantly, where you can find people who share the same interests and hobbies as yourself.
Since I am 9 years old I write short stories. My dad nurtured the reading habit since I was very young and since I have use of memory, I read a lot and write some more... I even have some short stories written in one of my notebooks, rookie stories if you may, but mine after all.
Wait, did I ever told you I won a *50 word story* contest literally while I was just a 2 week old newbie? It was organized by the literature trail, I wonder what happened to them.
Anyway, the point is, It´s been a while since I wanted to start writing again - nope, you will never read my previous rookie work, stop asking - but I am kind of hesitant about it.
There are two main reasons for my hesitation:
- I don´t know if I am good enough. I have been writing a lot since I joined Steemit but to be honest, writing story pieces is a whole different thing and it has been a while since I did my last creation.
- I don´t want to post content that you didn´t signed up for reading when you started following me - you know, the account name, all the travel related posts... don´t go with short stories... - and I don´t know if posting my pieces would be annoying for you, my current followers.
So, give me your opinion, would you like to read my short stories, even if they have nothing to do with adventure, traveling and community building?
Or would you like me to open another account so you don´t have to read my creative outburst which may or may not be good... I understand the morals and personal values of having an alt account but to be honest, I think I won´t be posting stories more than once a week, so if you are thinking about reward pool rape or voting abuse worry not, if you know me you know that´s not the way I drill.
To be honest, I don´t want to open an alt account but if the general opinion is that I should, because of *content diversification, i´ll look into it. Please, let me know what you think about this topic in the comment section!
I wouldn't worry about it and just do you. If people are following you it is because they enjoyed ...you. If people are so worried about diversified content I think they might be missing the idea. Steemit allows us to pursue what we enjoy. To post about, read about and enjoy what we want. If we get caught up thinking we have to create different accounts to satisfy the different parts of our personalities then that seems unneccesary. Is this more about community loyalty? Because if you can't step out and do something you love without ruffling feathers..is that really where you want to be....🙃
I'm with @freedompoint on this one for sure! Do what you love and your followers will simply love another part of you :) Cheers!
Someone said something along the lines "Do you want your blog to define you or you defining your blog" and your comment made it clearer. I am convinced I´m going to post here and see what happens, worst case scenario I´ll lose some followers but that´s it :D
True, the blog must portray our full selves and not just the marketable part of our personalities. Thanks for your perspective my Yeti friend! (Yeah, I do read most of my following base content :D )
At most, you could post a clear title - e.g. when doing a Short Story write "Short Story / Story / SS" or something along with the title. That way, people who are not interested can scroll down. I doubt anybody would unfollow though... the way I expereince my feed on Steemit feels like it shouldn't really hurt.
Yes!!!! Thank you!
well said @freedompoint and I'll add that I think a great use for steemit is creative exploration so I encourage you @anomadsoul to go for it!
i agree this guy's opinion, !!@anomadsoul , do what you want to do and not worry about other things , if you want to do , just do it , steemit is a platform for us to show our personality , not to please other person, i think .
Yup! Agree!
No way brother! Good to see you again! I hope the adventures are treating you well? I say no way to opening a new account just to post your stories! Your stories are a part of who you are. I think a mix of the two on this handle is just a part of the evolution process of this account. This account by the way is you and your stories are you so them being here is no issue for myself. I look forward to reading them by the way. Maybe they'll inspire me to do the same! I can only imagine the stories you'll come up with on your journeys of local lore or well anything I suppose! Exciting stuff brother! Be well my friend.
Your writing skills here has been so good that we even forgot what you told us you were gonna start be writing in your introduction. I think you are more of a very good writer that will write anything and do it well to taste. Short story, adventure, fiction, and whatsoever, please keep it coming because I have learnt so much from your writing. I have seen humanity, generosity, kindness, love, unity, community and Selflessness in your articles. How else does one give to the people in writing. And the amazing thing is you always drive your points home. I'm always fascinating at reading from you and please some of us won't mind reading what you called rookie work that won you the awards back then. Not asking because you said we shouldn't already, but you could be nice to share. Thanks for being amazing.
Pls keep us all following you on this account.
Get “off topic”. It’s how we get to know you.
Yeah. For me I'm okay with this account.
Post your short stories, I'll read.
Please here is my link to the role model contest. I'm sure you will love to read it.
https://steemit.com/rolemodel/@udembahenry/a-role-model-steemian-promoting-steemit-66ff34e824b88 . Thanks.
What about sticking with the same account, @anomadsoul , but titling your written stories as a "special" series? Seems like it would offer some flexibility... Look forward to reading more!
I´ve seen some people use [Title] - And the real title goes here. That way it allows their readers to know what the post is about, perhaps I could do that! Thanks!
np! I think that makes sense!
Hi, friend
Help me
Please vote on me
Please help me
Nice place .Thanks for sharing.Could you please say where it is?
Where is what?
I think he means the path in the forest?
I think you are a good writer, people like me newbie should learn many things from you thank you for giving a good picture. permission to resteem this post to my page 😊
Yeah you can RS, thanks. What´s your opinion about the post´s topic?
keep writing stories with long snippets, because you are a talented writer, so we can keep reading interesting stories from you. you do not have to create a new account
Hello fellow passive member of @thewritersblock lol
Writing story pieces is truly different but I'd love if you wrote with your current account, creating an alt account...uuuuhhhh... Not so much...
I´m glad I´m not the only lurker :P
Perhaps you are right, it seems the common opinion is to keep it on this one, I guess you´ll be reading more of my personal thoughts :D
I think it's up to you. And if it is about reward pool rape, it is the last thought that crossed my mind, if you made an alt.
If having an alternate account does not violate steemit rules, I guess its fine after all. In this way, you can categorize all your upcoming posts according to their niche ;)
Or you can just label your upcoming posts so we will know what posts we are going to read
Just post whatever on one account! That's what I do. People won't mind :D
Yeah man it seems like general consensus is to stick with this one, I guess you´ll be reading more about my inner fantasies :P
When I first started on Steem I planned to just post about my adventures in 3d modelling. Over time I have diversified. I think we all do to some degree. My opinion, for what it's worth, is to not create an Alt but to bring more richness to your blog, let us see this other side of you. It's the different dimensions of ourselves that makes us all that more interesting.
It´s funny how, as we evolve, our own content evolves with us. 3d modelling huh? Who would have guessed you´d end up co-running the greatest writing-related community here :D
True, I think I´ll go with it, been thinking about it for a while, I guess you´ll be reading more about those inner fantasies I sometimes have.
I figure, if people don't want to read it, they can easily glance over it on the feed. I know a lot of people talk about branding a blog and all that jazz, but my personal opinion is that it does not matter. I follow people that are interesting, and I will read it if I so happen to be there on the feed, like how I just stumbled upon this :).
The tags should also help with filtering (Note to nobody in particular: If I poke at your feed, I should be able to filter out resteems and possibly tags that I may not want. Hum.)
So my vote is, go for it (no alt). It sounds like an interesting read. I won't unfollow if I see a few things I'm not interested in.
Yes, it’s really all about branding, and I didn’t avoid working a corporate job and a major record deal my whole life to become a brand here at steemit. That’s me though.
I enjoy seeing the diverse range of posts made by the people I follow. And to be honest, I normally choose to follow someone based on how they interact with people in the comments of their posts.
I saw that you interacted really well with your followers so chose to follow you.
Based on that, I didn’t follow you because of the niche that you originally chose. So if you start posting short stories, I will more than likely read them and comment on them.
So go for it!
Ask yourself, is Anomadsoul a brand of your soul or it is about the man behind?
Then your readers can tell you how they feel about it as you share with them how you see it.
We all when we start in steemit have something in mind, but if the magic of this place captures us (and those know you, know you are captured) we evolve into something different.
Our blogs also do, I dont think our followers (the real ones) want to just read about a topic unless it is a very especialized account, and you know how annoying is to handle different accounts for the projects.
Also there building that account and handling replying and the such.
But it is true also that a dedicaded profile/blog is more pleasing to some eyes.
Now you remind me initially i wanted to share a few short tales i have under my sleeve collecting dust in a folder since the 80's.
And about my intent to tell a few of my adventures as and Oil man...
If time is found they shall be told to the block-chain.
About that other guy question:
The crossroads picture closest to the reply button i am guessing :)
True words, and I don't think anyone who follows an actual person doesn't mind other types of content, and anything is better than some of the tripe flooding the website, lol.
Dude those oil man adventures would be awesome to read, really.
I guess you are right, perhaps I can mold the brand and not let the brand mold me.
I think you have a point, the good thing about having some followers who actually reply, is that they will tell us if they are liking the content, actual feedback man, what we are searching for in this platform!
As I was telling someone else, it´s funny how our steemit profiles evolve as we grow within this amazing platform ^^
No stay here write your stories here I'll be looking forward to it, there are alot of writers on here I am one of them I've posted some stories awhile back, just try it see what people think, have a beautiful night my brother 😘
The most engaging sister I´ve had in like, forever! Always appreciating your comments Ceci! Kisses kisses!
For me, i will prefer you still maintain this account rather than opening account. I understand the fact that you must have created a niche 4 yourself but every once in a while, is good to diversify to other stuffs. People who follow ur work would be like "wow!!! Never knew, he's such a good fiction writer".
I don't see why you need to worry about writing non travel stuff, as long as you're not changing directions drastically or abandoning travel all together.
You'll soon find out when you start to lose followers ... Sorry that wasn't helpful 😉
Lol the most harsh and crude yet probably true comment but well, I´ll find out soon enough! Oh, and you can´t say anything about the map on this post :P
Postingan nya cukub menarik mantab
Hasil kejeniusan sendiri
Sambil saya membaca tertarik seperti anda
Itu pasti dengan ke fokusan dalam menulis nya
Hmm I´m betting this is Malaysian? It´s not Philipino cause I´ve been told it has some words very similar to spanish. Anhyway, thanks for the spam my friend.
None of us were "good enough" when we first got serious about our writing. What makes the difference is what we do about it. :-) You have a great team behind you at The Writers' Block. You'll write something , submit it, see it ripped to shreds, put it back together again (rinse, lather, repeat,) and suddenly you'll have a piece of work you're so proud of you almost won't believe it came from your own imagination. Whenever you're ready, bring yourself into the Block and we'll help any way we can.
I can´t wait! I actually started working on something a few hours ago, and then I was like "And now what?". I mean I knew what was next... but after submiting it I would be kind of mmmm where should I put this. But seems like the general opinion is that people following me don´t mind reading my pieces... We have a long way to go, don´t want to let anyone down! Thank you for the encouraging words, I hope I can start as an active and not so pasive member really soon.
I definitely thnk you should share yoir writing here. I believe its not most of the existing niche that drives people to follow you, but relating to who you are. We all know anomadsoul and that's the inportant part. Either way, whether you choose to diversify your blog posts, Im sure your followers including myself will stay on board. You have helped me a lot in my frst month in steemit and I have grown so much since then. Your contests gave me some visibility and im thankful for that. You have my support in your writing. I bet its going to be great
I step in and out of character all the time and I use multiple characters on one account. There's me, @NoNamesLeftToUse The Writer/Artist Himself, This Man, to name a few. Everyone got used to me being one unpredictable mess of randomness since the get go. It was the best decision I ever made. I hear a lot of advice from people on Steemit. They say, "pick a topic." I just shake my head sometimes when I have to watch them wonder what to write about. We can only say so much about one thing before we start to sound like a broken record. This is also why I'm not much of a fan of communities. I always viewed segregation to be a bad thing. And again, the creativity becomes stunted when you can only be one thing. I write, I produce art, I tell life stories, I tell fiction stories, I write comedy, I make an ass outta myself. This list just keeps growing. Nobody seems to mind. At the end of the day though, this is only my way. Might not work for everyone.
It doesn't matter what you think. Ignore yourself and just go for it. Someone out there will like it.
Lol yeah since I started following you I can concur your posts vary from one topic to another, but as you say, it is all about keeping it fresh. To be honest these past days I´ve felt like writing stories and I was a bit like No, focus on your strengths but you know what? It is my call and if I want to post randomness well, I´ll post the best randomness I can :D
True, people get so absorbed by their own self imposed stereotype and sometimes it is too hard to let go of yourself. Thanks for dropping by and giving me an honest opinioni, cheers man!
If you focus on those weaknesses, they too become strengths. Okay, I'm starting to sound too much like Dr. Phil.
Cheers!
Lol but you are right, the best behaviour I´ve had is to embrace those weaknesses and use the in your favor, so they are no longer weak spots. See you around Doctor!
I will like to read your stories. This same thing is what I am trying to correct on my blog right now. I wanna concentrate on short stories fully before I am well recognized for something else or recognized for just fumbling among different ideas.
Opening an alternative account will be nice but if as you said, it will only be one story a week, you should continue with this account. I doubt it will be a story a week though, because you will enjoy writing the stories that you will produce more stories and readers will definitely ask for more.
Most people post about more than one thing. I say post them on this account. You could maybe put "short story: in the title, and then people can choose.
As a writer most times your content and pattern of writing should vary, ofcourse to avoid being boring. If u keep writing on a particular topic, believe your readers will get bored
Your post is very nice. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
Your writing isn’t pretty good for a 9 year old ;-P
I’ve thought about this too. Ive changed my direction at steemit a few times and now I’m doing so many things on one account, talking about social issue, spirituality, steemit, crypto, blogging, fiction, Japanese/English bilingual posts and posts about Japan, and the Deadpost Initiative ( a regular contest for undervalued posts).
I’ve thought about making a second account but I don’t think it’s THAT big a deal. Everyone’s feeds are so over saturated anyway. It depends on you though.
Just post whatever you want, if it is interesting people will read it.
WAO read the post I moved to write and give my opinio on the decision you want to take, I suggest you use your my post where within 7 days of the week can Elehir two day or one day to publish and the contrary the description of blog add that now Escribiento Bunk Tura
Whatever you post we’ll read. Your writing here is great I beckon your creative writing will be equally amazing. Just let the post frequencies be right so we still get to see all different topics right. #OneAccount
Noticed to stopped by my blog to show my poem some love. Thanks 🙏
We never are going to feel that our work is good enough... So we can always be afraid about that or we can be surprised for a community that actually love our work.. You already have that, a community that reads you, and cares about you; so let them know you even better reading a piece of your soul... I am sure that they are going to appreciate that, like I would do.
Great post tnx for sharing I just upvote check out my post steemit all the way
I love what you currently blog about, but personally I think you will do great too with short stories. I will want to see that part of you, I will love to read your short interesting piece. One a week isn't a day deal so i will say you can start blogging here with it. @anomadsoul short story.
you are right..most people do not have goal on what they want to be blogging about..therefore they just open a steem account just because of the mouth watering earnings.one has to know what he or she would be blogging about, before opening any account. so It will be easier to blog.then you can earn good money.
I dont think it's necessary to open anorher account just because of what some people may think or do. Your blog is yours and you have the creative freedom to make it whatever you choose to make it. If you want to do storywriting or in the worst scenario, even food photography. Then so be it. Its is your blog and your account. You determine what anomadsoul does.
Be yourself and write your writer block stories on this account. Make your life simple and not more complex. We already have too much clutter in our lives, it's time for a detox.
Be the 'tree' in your photo and do not think of the pathways. The tree has many aspects to it that is different (the truck, the bark, the leaves, the seeds and much more), but in all, it's a tree. It is just like your personality, passions and interests. We are sure that they are different too, but they make up one person: you.
I wouldn't mind reading your "rant" or whatever bursts you might have! I like mish-mash blogs, especially personal stories! It is you, represents you, and it says you have "multi-talent". On days that I visit and you happen to write something that I don't have time to give my full attention, there are your other posts that I can visit.
I am not a "niche" writer as to me it is too restricted to my creative flow! When visiting a "niche" blog, reading the same subject over and over can get very boring too. As human, we all have gone through many different experiences and solve many different problems, in our own ways. It is never the same for everyone.
In the end though, you know what is best for you! Go with your gut instinct...
I think you already have your name here sir erik and i have seen ur works which all excellent! You are a great writer sir. If u hesitate, I dont hesitate of you.
I think you shouldn't worry about it.. And just delight everyone. The ones that been following you since the begining will stay, and those who are interested in your diverse content will come. At the end.. It's quite hard to manage one blog, now think about havig two.
It's your blog, with your personality.. I always say "Do more of what makes you happy", try to make it work.
I want you to publish everything on this account. If this is of interest to you, then it is very likely that your readers will be interested in it. In the case of a new account, you must to earn the reader base from scratch. If someone started following you, it is, first of all, following exactly you, and he will be happy with any subject of your articles !!! Good luck to you and good.
From my point of view, the variety of topics makes our blog more interesting and therefore as far as our creative mind can go. Keep going, your followers will love what you will do.
I followed you for the nomad things and travel stuff but I like your writing style in general so I would definitely read your stories non-related to traveling too :) Btw, talking about nomadism and traveling, there is a new discord group designed for nomads and travellers so if anyone is interested in this kind of lifestyle, feel free to join https://discord.gg/jWWu73H (hopefully I am not breaking any rule by posting the link, if I am, please, let me know and I will remove it :)
My view with alt accounts anywhere and everywhere has been the same. This is your personal account, this is where you can share your thoughts and experiences. This should be the place where you can show everything that makes you you. A lot of different things define a single person and you shouldn't feel obligated to open another account. I followed you today tbh so I'm not sure if I am person to comment on this but your followers should look at your new content as a bonus, but that's just my opinion :D
Dear anomadsoul. I begin my lines by admiring you in a way how far you have made it here on this platform Steemit. Unfortunately, I'm still pretty new here, but I find myself coping very well. It is still a lot of work when I see you and your work as a kind of role model. But I give myself time and try to get into this community well. I read with pleasure that you have already won a great prize as a young man. That's why you do not have to be modest. Because this honor stands for the fact that you have done something special. So you may like to write about it. My respect for that.
If you now have this gift that you can write great stories, then do not hide it. But share it with the people who are interested. I would love to read your works and also comment on your quality as the author of your stories. Surely you imagine now the question how you can implement it. For one thing, you already have a very powerful account. This shows that you have worked hard and done a lot. Only for me now the question arises. Since you want a very honest feedback of your stories, you should consider starting your own platform for it. Why? Look, my friend. How is it in real life? I compare it with people who have a lot of money and can show it. Are they liked or loved because they are human or just because their status shows them out? I once knew a person who was a millionaire. He could really afford almost everything. But for his dates drove with a very old car. He just wanted to see if the human being wants to get to know him and takes it without his money playing a role. The dear anomadsoul I would like to give you as a little tip. If you want to have an honest opinion. Then start your own account in which you publish your written works. Because this is how you recognize the people who identify themselves with your work and with what you want to communicate to 100%. Because for me it is important to show that if I comment something I understood the content of the post. Also it would be for you an honest assessment if people like you and your contributions, support without that they would know that you have a very strong account. For me it does not matter how much someone has as an account. I would like to read and rate posts because I read and understood them. But in the end, you are the person who decides about it. But please promise me only one thing. Do not hide your talent for writing. Even if it is not always perfect in your eyes. It can be understood quite differently in the eyes of the reader. Therefore, I am happy if you would especially share with me your contributions and stories. Greetings Markus
@anomadsoul don't worry about it, you are pressuring yourself over nothing, the ones who follow you because they like you as a person and the way you put up your posts will read your stories aswell as every other post, but people who only follow travel posts will just read those and not the others, why would they unfollow you for couple of "unrelated" posts on your blog, and i put " marks there because, everything YOU make on YOUR blog is related :) Related to you!
