I kinda think its nice to preserve the serenity and sacredness of a spiritual tradition, thus forbidding any electronic devices is a good solution for the people/tourist concentrate on the ritual rather than just taking pictures. Also being able to witness such rituals is one of the ways in really connecting to the culture of the place you are visiting.
