Smart Media Tokens are the future of the Steem blockchain. They will allow everyone to create their own cryptocurrency that works like Steem and runs on the Steem blockchain. But they will have their own ecosystem and have their own price. In this post I present a few that you can earn already today without any money investement.

@Actifit

Actifit is a new mobile app for Android (iOS coming) that pays you for your activity - your walking activity to be precise. The app counts your daily steps and let's you post them directly to the Steem blockchain. You are getting rewarded once a day for your activity via the Actifit upvote. You are also earning the upcoming Smart Media Token form the project in form of an ERC20 token until SMT's are released.

To earn the tokens you can participate by posting your daily activity via the app to the Steem blockchain. They have a level system that rewards you based on the daily steps you did. Additionally, you can upvote and resteem @actifit posts for one token each per day and per user. And finally delegate Steem Power to them for a daily amount of tokens in the same amount of your delegation

@Steemhunt

Steemhunt is a product hunting website that let's you post short product overviews for cool gadgets, tools and software. If you are the first to discover and share them then you can get upvoted by the community with a sophisticated voting mechanism. Each day the best hunts will be upvoted by the @steemhunt account which has already 1,5 million Steem Power delegations.

They also release a Smart Media Token and you can already start earning it. When you upvote and resteem posts via the Steemhunt website you will get a diversity score that is being calculated by how you spread your upvotes, how large they are and by your Steem reputation. the more regular you do that the higher that score grows. You can also delegate Steem Power for a weekly payout (you don't get the tokens yet but you have a pseudo-wallet showing you your hunt tokens earned already.

@Appics

Appics is a mobile app that clones Instagram for the Steem blockchain. They have a sleak design and an integrated shop for each user. They support images and videos as well as live-streaming for selected users. They were the first team to announce a Smart Media Token project and they have already concluded their successful ICO in which they collected over 4 million USD.

To earn the Appics token you can join their bounty system. It rewards you for spreading the word about Appics on all sorts of social media platforms. You can manually hand-in your links to the posts you created. Twitter, Facebook and Steemit are even fully automized and you earn shares which will at some point be converted to tokens. The amount of Appics tokens you will receive depends on the total of bounty hunters and who will have to share the dedicated pool of tokens.

There are many more SMT's announced and we expect the majority of the large Steem platforms like DTube to release their own tokens as well. To get a head-start with them as well you can just be active on those platforms and keep an eye on their announcements. DTube has already teased that early adopters of the platform will be rewarded with their token somehow.

It is exciting to already collect the first tokens. We don't know what their value will be but the fact that you can earn some of them entirely for free is fascinating and has created quite a bit of interest in the forementioned projects. What do YOU think about hunting SMT's? Do you think it will be worthwhile eventually? Or do you think this is rather a waste of time and energy?

Sort:

Dude, you just got me to the place where I "hunted" my first time over on Steemhunt!

(I didn't realize it would automatically post to Steemit too, so inadvertently made two posts on the same thing in quick succession, but you can see my hunt pretty easily on my blog anyway. Please check it out. 😀)

Yes, you should always keep in mind that ALL Steem-platforms will post the Steem blockchain which in return will then be visible on Steemit. This might change in the future but for now it is what it is.

Im always on the look out for some free crypto, thanks for the tip. Honestly, not sure I'll do any of these, but I am seriously excited about the action/volume that SMTs will bring to the Steem ecosystem.

As I understand it, SMTs will be traded directly against Steem, which is why the volume of Steem trading will rise with the popularization of SMTs. Lets hope so.

Yes, that is correct. SMT's are like the ERC20-tokens for Ethereum but they will have the Steem functionalities.

funky! but I don't like the idea that they do first an erc20 token, then later convert it in an smt, it shout be since the first moment an smt. any idea when the smt will be released? greez s. error

Q3 2018 is the expected release date. So basically within the next 3 months.

The ERC20 tokens are merely a place holer. I am fine if they never release them. I am happy with my virtual points until the SMTs come out.

yes, that's fine. was thinking about a delegate but maybe I will wait for another project in the future. maybe the fitness program sounds good, need some sport :v . greez

Flauwyyy :)
Thank you for featuring @actifit and for delegating to our project, much appreciated !

Well, thank you for this very interesting SMT project of yours!

Appics looks neat.
Thanks for the great info.
Good power and energy to you.

I just tryed @actifit and it works :) For the appics bounty I'm not sure how exactly it works...

Looking forward to @Appics launch....When i first learned about it I was become pumped up for it's potential....Can't wait to see the working app!

As for Steemhunt, I'm slow and haven't jumped on yet. I loved their promotion and marketing strategy though to get delegation. Absolutely brilliant....

And @Actifit oh man, once they get their IOS app, I'm all in on that one too. God knows I need to lose the pounds lol And to earn STEEM while doing it...Oh man, that might actually work :)

2018 has been great so far for the SMT's...Can't wait to see what else is coming out!

Yes, the Steemhunt promotion is really something else. They have done the best job so far to make it easy and attractive to support their project while hunting for their future tokens.

Thanks for this, flauwy. I had heard of 2 of the 3 before, but never really understood Steemhunt. I think because people always described it in terms of another platform I'm not familiar with. But here you really broke down what each of these does (so very succinctly!) and then how you earn the tokens. I get it! I'm going to go take a look at Steemhunt now.

edit: Question, when I upvote on other STEEM platforms (like Steemhunt) do I use my VP from the same pool as when I upvote on Steemit (or any of the other STEEM platforms)?

Yes, you will use the same voting power for all Steem platforms. So you have to make sure to fina a balance.

flauwy always with the best info, respect you man.

Thanks a lot for your post. I just signed up on steemhunt now and hope to give those apps a trial. Gracias

Hmmm interesting, in a good way. we all still love the ERC 20 tokens as well I note... I wonder if Bitshares could have been used instead...... just curious

So lets say you want to create a duplicate of twitter that runs on a blockchain, you can create an SMT on the STEEM blockchain and that new SMT that you created can be used to reward users that use your new twitter website. You can set whatever parameters you want for that SMT to determine how users of the website get rewarded, etc, etc...

thanks for the tip on @actifit- hadn't heard of it yet. i have been collecting bounty on @appics and am very excited for its launch as i like the short-form instagramesque app they're coming out with!!

get to know about Actifit token today other i knew but many thanks for sharing this article time to earn :D

Wow, this article answered all the questions I had when reading your more recent post. It is all complicated but sounds great!
