RE: I Slept on a Hardwood Floor For a Week (and You Should Try It Too)

in #sleep7 years ago

I have always wanted to try a Japanese Floor Futon. I'm a side sleeper too. Spent the last 12 years sleeping on a vinyl couch. Really don't like beds because they bother my back. Using a popup trundle bed right now & kind of miss the couch.

Couches are better for your back? That is interesting because to me couches are the worst for my back sometimes

Yeah because with a bed, you sink in more. And with a couch, I can sleep on my side & press my back up against the back of the couch. I have something kind of like a slipped disc in my back. It's on my lower left, & recently got arthritis in my left hip. So that side really bothers me.

I would use a bed with a nice memory foam pad. But even that would bother my back. Couches have normally 3 separate pads. Sleeping on that doesn't let me sink in like a bed does & mess my back alignment up.

Anytime a family member came over they would also ask how I slept on that couch. I said, I just need too lol. Eventually the middle of it sunk in because the spring broke. I was stacking pillows, foam pads, or blankets, to try to make it better to sleep on.

I was looking on Amazon for foldout chair beds or a thing like above to sleep on. I really don't like normal beds. Then this summer, my Grandma asked if I wanted this popup trundle she had. I said might as well try it because this couch is pretty much shot.

Cool yea that makes sense! Sometimes different things can work wonders for different people.. whether that's sleep or diet or whatever. Glad the couch and trundle beds are working for you, slipped disc sounds like no fun.
