Skoolie Conversion: Batteries and Bad Business

We have been battling electrical demons since the last time we parked it, so we have a tech coming out today to diagnose and repair. We are thinking it is the emergency egress system locking out the ignition, so we will have the tech bypass those circuits and go from there.

In the chase for these electric problems we discovered that both of our batteries needed to be replaced, so we took them to the local Advance Auto Parts stores to get confirmation of their status and to order replacements.

Thanks to Advance Auto Parts what should have been an easy job to a job that stretched from Friday evening to Sunday morning. This particular store said they didn't have the batteries in stock, but could get them from another store. When placing the order for the batteries the Advance employee took a few extra minutes explaining that the other area stores did have the batteries we needed but that they were unreliable to have it transferred. What he should have said is that that the other area stores REFUSE to transfer parts for their customers to other stores.

I ordered and paid for the batteries Friday evening before 6pm, they were due to be delivered to our local store by 11:30 Saturday morning. By Saturday we were ready to get this job done. I mean, changing batteries is a pretty easy and straight forward task and doesn't require much time.

We had to run some other errand sin town so we decided to stop in and see if our order was ready. We got to the store about noon. The person at the counter explained that the "other store had dropped the ball" and he didn't know when or if we would be getting our order. He then put in another transfer request for a different store and we were to wait until 5:30 that afternoon.
Come 5:30 pm we were called by the local store and told that the second store he was trying to get our order transferred from also REFUSED to do the transfer and he would try and get us one from a store 2 hours drive time away. This one should have been there at 9 am the next day (Sunday).

Because of the history of this store and of this order I decided to call the store around 9:30 am to confirm the batteries had been delivered... and was told that the third store had REFUSED to deliver our order. I asked the man over the phone if he could look up who had the batteries close by, he looked and told me that a store about 25 minutes away had them.

So now that my order has been refused to be transferred from 3 different stores I had to make the 25 minute drive across town to pick up the batteries myself from a fourth store.

Needless to say we are more that aggravated by this fiasco and will cease using Advance Auto as we continue this conversion.

Once the tech can diagnose and repair whatever it is that is locking out our ignition we will be set to get the tag and title work done as well as insurance. All of those processes will be recorded and posted as they happen.
