Hello guys, hope y'all had a great Sunday... Cos I did.. we all know that the month is finally coming to an end.. I mean this January has been really slow.. I kept on anticipating for a commission but nothing came through till the previous week, I'm just glad that I was able to finish it and deliver it on time.. it's my first commission of the year and it's already looking like my best yet.
I really enjoyed working on this piece.. made it for a guy who's in love with the Ref I drew.
Title: Untitled (commissioned piece)
Medium: charcoal pencil and charcoal powder, needlepoint paper, blending smudge, brushes, eraser.
Duration: 20hrs( split into 3 days)
So guys, here's the first move I made to get an accurate resemblance between my ref and the artwork. I made my grid lines.
I shaded the head garment with hatching, then I used my brush to blend the shades, then I also used my brush to pick some charcoal powder and apply on the darker areas.
Quick one, if you're tryna get charcoal powder without going to buy the powder, you could rub your Charcoal pencil to a sandpaper and use the particles on the sand paper
Just imagine the kinda pencil I was working with, It was really short... Almost exhausted but I had to exhaust it.
I used a piece of the eraser to create my highlights on the eyes
I shaded the background with my brush and charcoal powder so I'd create the 3d effect
That would be all for now guys
Thanks for the feedbacks I keep getting from some of y'all.. it motivates me to keep creating and sharing. Only the best awaits us
Enjoy the new week and new month ahead. Cheerio!!!
