On this post I would like to share some of our personal experience and insights about exploring to Siquijor.
A little background on our travel going to this Island. We are a family of four, With two little kids aged 5 and 3. It was summer season when we finally decided to go to Siquijor. Though tourist can be seen from every corner it did not stop us from enjoying Siquijor. We stayed for 3 days to nights. Surprisingly there were more international tourist than Filipino ones. Without further adieu I will start the virtual tour.
Day One
We arrived at at Siquijor Port around 6am. Immediately you will be welcomed to Siquijor Triagular Landmark. Where there is a Huge sign that says ‘WELCOME TO SIQUIJOR’ along the sign you can also spot St. Francis de Assisi Church and is a good introduction to the churches of Siquijor.
Once in Siquijor, there will be multicabs/tricycles outside the port. We chose to ride a multicab going to San Juan, Siquijor where The Bruce is located. We paid P50 pesos for hiring the tricycle to our private cottage accommodation.
There are a lot of cheap accommodation in the Island. We chose The Bruce. We found this at booking.com App. For those who might ask for the rates at The Bruce.
After we droped our luggage went ahead to our first stop. The Century old Balete tree and fish Spa. Aside from the souvenirs, there is a fish spa where you will only have to pay P10. Your fee is already good for the whole. The Cheapest fish spa my entire life! 😁
(3pcs for a 100 pesos vodu doll keychain/ fridge magnet souvenirs)
And if you ever wondered if there is really a “Gayum” or love potion. ♀️ Yes!
Our next stop is Salagdoong Beach. With the Entrance fee of 25 pesos! You can already enjoy swimming on beach on this beautiful resort.
If there is anything thing you that should’nt miss when you plan on going to Siquijor, also known as Isla del Fuego. Is the Cambugahay Falls! This Island won’t be just called ‘The Mystical Island’ if this spot never existed. A 3-tiered water falls and its breath taking clear torquise water. But on the cons for this place is that it is 130 steep steps down to reach the water fall. I honestly won’t recommend this to family with infants and toddlers, this is just too much for little ones(considering safety). Dreaming of Tarzan rope swing? Yes, you definitely can! Here below are the sneak photos. That would totally convince you to pack your bags and make this your next adventure.
Day two
One of local residents and tourist recommended. Located at the center of San Juan, Capilay Spring Park has become extremely popular among the locals especially during the summer season. This place is family friendy, where you can have picnics, kids can play at playground. A most of all swim on its refreshing and clear spring water. This place is a must-be-in-the-itirenary-list. ✅
One of the main reasons that we were convinced to travel to Siquijor is of course famous it its beach! We will never be a beach junkie for nothing. We are crazy over white and powdery fine sand beaches. Paliton beach is one of the untouched beach a Siquijor’s precious gem. And this place has exceed our expectations. Sugary sand beach without the overwelming partying crowd. No entrance fee, all for you, for free to enjoy.
Day two:
After we had breakfast, we continue and went ahead on our Island exploration. Located at the circumferential road you can easily spot the Siquijor Boulevard. This spot is also a go to at night time where vendor sells ihaw-ihaw barbeque. A dinner by the bay under the moonlight is spot on romantic. But on our case we went around 8am, We can't help but stop by and just appreciate the stunning water that surround this Island.
Below is the Tubod Marine Sanctuary. When Going to Siquijor Island, If you are marine life lover, you should bring your snorkeling gears and under water action cam. With 25 pesos environmental fee each you can swim, relax and do snorkeling all you want.
If you you are looking for a place for dinner with a good dinning experience. with its ambiance and stunning over looking restaurant. Larena Triad Restaurant is the place! This Restaurant is Uphill drive. The goal is to catch the ‘best Siquijor sunset’. Best place to call it a day.
The next day we left for Dumaguete City and head home to Cebu City. A Bit sad to go back to reality but going to the port area the water is still very much inviting, almost telling us to come back soon. Until we meet again Siquijor! Thank you for the wonderful experience.
This is really helpful! I've been wanting to tour Siquijor! Thank you for sharing.
Siquijor is not really scary. All those stories about witch craft and manangal I think is not true at all! But we treat everyone we meet there with respect and not cause any disturbances. I think any one is safe. 😇😇
