WAYS TECHNOLOGY CAN SIMPLIFY LEARNING

in #simplify7 years ago

From old times teachers would have hard time imparting knowledge to the students as they have to write and draw on the board their lesson. Science, Physics, History and other teachers would struggle on how they can let the students picture or imagine what they are teaching.

Students would also struggle on how they should picture and understand what is being discussed by the teacher. Tedious hours or writing on their notebooks and more notebooks are being brought to the school just to take notes.

However, nowadays we can just bring a laptop, netbook or smartphone to learn and impart knowledge. I have been a teacher way back 2006, a Contact Center trainer for roughly 7 years and currently back to teaching and I have experienced the evolution of teaching and learning. From notebooks, Overhead projector, chalk board and notebook to Laptop, LED monitor, Projectors and Tablet I grasp the advancement of technology to help ease my tasks.

The evolution made my work easy and efficient and I have listed down ways to make things easy for you.

  1. Simplify tools for Learning.

Say goodbye to books and Flip charts. Laptop, Smartphone and Tablet are the new trend, the vast source online is the new library for learners. We can access online to gather information to learn more and enhance our knowledge.

As a teacher I use online sources to get more understanding from what I read from the books. Technology helped ease my task as I can show students a video of what I am discussing. www.youtube.com, www.wikipedia.com, www.slideshare.com and www.google.com are my sidekick when gathering details about my lesson. There's somehow a con to this pro and that is fake information.

Smartphone can be used as my remote so that it will be easy to navigate using my laptop that is connected to the monitor or to a projector. At first you may find it hard to use these tech gadgets but as you practice more it will become an essential part to your teaching.

  1. Simplify Reading

From good ole days we bring 2-3 books just to learn a specific chapter for just one subject. We also bring notebooks to write on. However, since our smartphones are capable of taking a photo, students can just take a picture of your lessons and focus more on discussion getting less time writing and more time learning.

I created this website to help students study my subject in one website where I place all my data from different sources making it easy to read and minimize searching from one website to another. However, students are encouraged to learn more by going through multiple sources.

  1. Simplify Classroom Management

You may find it hard to manage a group of 45 or more learners in one classroom. As you turn back to write and occupy all the spaces on your board, your students become noisy, tired and unmotivated. To make everything hyped for learning you prepare slide presentation in your laptop in advance to become efficient in teaching and focusing your attention to the students.

  1. Simply Instructions

It has been an issue to students when we are using words that are rarely used. We are not talking to a dictionary nor a Doctor in Education specializing on English subject. We are talking to students who can understand simple words but have great possibility to learn more. By using hard to understand terms they are being diverted to learning the word but missing out the important lesson. You are creating a barrier to learning the lesson. Use simple but correct terms when discussing or even instructing a student.
