The #silvergoldstackers community’s traditional Secret Santa gift exchange is on again for 2025. In prelude to this annual gift exchange is @silverd510’s customary imitative; 12 Days of Christmas, While it may be too late to participate in the exchange, participation in the posting of your wish list list or desired gifts are still welcomed.

To my dear Secret Santa,
I’m getting the feeling that my Secret Santa doesn’t take much time off during the off season but continues working behind the scenes like disguising himself as an Asian coin show dealer. Perhaps posing as an owner of said coin trusting that it will end up with it’s intended owner. You’re so humble Santa, you don’t want any credit. I don’t know how you do it but Thank you. I’ll be good and keep it our little secret along with every reader of this post.
When I first saw this Trafalgar coin shared by @welshstacker I’ve not only re-blogged his article, I’ve also promptly placed this numismatic gem on my Wish List opening.
I’ve almost forgot about this coin until D’s July 10th Ship coin Post featured this same commemorative coin. I admit, I was a little envious but that reminded me that I will find one, there are still 29,998 more out there.
I do wish to emphasize that this exquisite sterling piece is purely numismatic for collecting rather for stacking, to add there was some room inside my collecting budget. Two months later, my dealer; Ben at HK Colonial Coins unveiled this beauty on his Discord server, I was more than pleased to BIN, ‘Buy It Now’.
Shipping from Hong Kong usually went on for six or more weeks, now with the Trade War going on between the USA and the PROC shipping has come to a stand still between the two Economic super powers. However, this improved shipping to Canada and I was surprised to receive this order in one week.
Sadly, I didn’t get the whole clam shell case, just the coin and the booklet. I’m immediately taken in by the dramatic painting on the booklet cover, similar to that of one of my table books of my library The Seafarers, Fighting Sail. The cover having the illustration of the Battle of Trafalgar by French artist, Louis-Philllipe Crepin. Nor any more semblance to Clarkson Stanfield’s epic painting of the same historical battle. The booklet does not state the artist.
The scene on the Reverse of this coin are that of Lord Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory and the HMS Temeraire. I can presume that this was the view of these formidable ships from the point of view from the French Redoubtable just before the fleets engaged into battle.
The Coin’s artist and sculptor Clive Duncan emphasized the water conditions. The rolling waves that hampered the Spanish gun’s aim and thus spared the Victory from more damage as she bore down at the center of the allied fleet.
The rest is history.
Despite this coin being case-less, I got good value considering what my Secret Santa may have arranged to see me get this marvelous piece and supporting Ben, my favorite Hong Kong dealer and coin sleuth.
I’m am happy with this addition to my Silver Ships Collection.
With my original Sixth day gift fulfilled what shall I put in place of my Sixth Day Wish? 🤔
And that brings me back to @silverd510’s September 2nd post of the Swedish Sailing ship the Kalmar Nyckel. Since I already possess the 1636-1938 Sweden 2 Krona New Sweden. Having it’s opposite American coin will make this a match set.
And there we have it Santa. The perfect substitute Christmas gift suggestion for my Sixth day of Christmas. It doesn’t have to be MS-70 or MS69 in a NGC or PCGS slab. I know these can be tough to find so I won’t mind if it’d be around AU-58.

Physical precious metals bullion stacking is only a part of my personal overall financial strategy. Meanwhile, collecting numismatics are a different set of objectives and strategy. Unless you are a complete nutcase as I am please, do your research before deciding to buy into any bullion or numismatic products.
Two awesome ship coins that I don't have in the collection either. I would love to add both though, and have been looking on and off for the Delaware for some time. Just haven't found a good deal. The Trafalgar commemorative would be really nice as well, what a pretty coin! I may have to add that to the list as well, that's really cool.
I'm glad you had the nice fire going for the cold night while you worked. Good to hear there isn't any snow yet, but this time of year I'm sure that's inevitable up north. I hope you are feeling not worse and hanging in there!

I'm actually not allowed to use my real fireplace according to Municipal bylaw unless inspected by City Hall, for not only safety but mainly environmental carbon emissions too. I don't buy the Carbon emissions thing. I can use a clean burning Kerosene space heater as an Emergency heating system. A special prep in the event of an earthquake taking down infrastructure.
The environmentalists can freeze their butts off while me and my kids can keep warm.
The Trafalgar's a beauty.

It's a damp sort of cold around here, as they say, 'more to do with the humidity than the heat.' The Trafalgar was my original Sixth day of Christmas gift but was in a way fulfilled before I could use it for this Christmas.

Both awesome coins! Here, it's snowing/ freezing rain, so it's a bit slippery! But, I am braced for -40 any day now!
With a Trafalgar safe in my collection thanks to Ben at his Hong Kong shows we look forward to the next one.
Of all the local shows I've seen so far, I have yet to see a the 1936 Delaware in hand from a Dealer yet. I think all the better coins like this are all back east in the Ontario shows. Santa better have deep pockets for this wish list coin.

Considering the price and timing I believe I got good value for the 2005 Trafalgar. I won't be picky about the 1936 Delaware if it's less than UNC or as a graded coin,
I should slow down following this collecting theme, I thumbed through the Krause catalogs and there are sooooo many beautiful ships. IT would be impossible on a pension income to achieve. Santa has deeper pockets than I do.

$60 and already $62, personalty I like to see lower prices so I could stack more for family. There's still a lot more to go to reach what should theoretically be our Inflation adjusted price of silver should be depending whose inflation figures you use. I figure the $306 based on the government's own low ball figure.
