Its been a wild time in the silver world. January 1st China is banning the export of it. So that likely means the end of us buying Pandas. That's alright, this one is the only one I have. So I am excited to see what happens on today's open!
Now onto to this coins much older cousin. It came as part of one of my secret Santa gifts.
I did some research on this coin and I believe it is a Qing Dynasty Tongzhi Tongbao. So it is from around 1860.

Thanks, yeah, the Pandas are cool, but, I just never find them locally, and I almost never order silver. And the 30gram instead of 1oz thing they do kinda sucks. This one is old enough to be 1oz

I wonder if it was used as pay for a railroad worker? Here the Chinese were paid in their currency, not sure about the US.

Old money and new money.
When I first started stacking I used to pick up Pandas regularly since there is a large population of ethnic Chinese living here but I keep getting the feeling I'm being ripped off a gram every time I buy one.
