Silverbugs: Overpriced Silver!

in #silver7 years ago

Hey Steemit!

Silver is a good investment. I believe, along with many others, that silver is very undervalued at the moment, so purchasing it will prove quite lucrative in the future.

Here is a post where, instead of buying reasonably priced silver to invest in, I purchase overpriced (but absolutely beautiful and stunning) coins. Don't try this at home folks! At least, not until you already have plenty of the cheap stuff!

On with the coins.

First we have the South Korean Silver Clay Chiwoo Cheonwang. Pictured here is the Korean god of war, Chiwoo Cheonwang, sitting astride his horse and bearing an intricate shield. Love the shield detail!

On the other side, we get a close up of the shield! This is a one ounce piece of 999 silver. It's face value is one "clay" which is actually not a unit of money but of land. (This coin is not legal tender.)

I got four of these bad boys.
Get it from here:
https://www.jmbullion.com/2017-1-oz-south-korean-silver-clay-chiwoo-cheonwang/

Next up we have this ...just jaw dropping, lovely coin, featuring Zeus, the head of the Greek pantheon. This is a high relief coin with an antique finish. Zeus is gilded with a Rose Gold plate.

Trying to show you the high relief here, Zeus is raised considerably from the coin.

This coin is two ounces of pure .999 silver (tarnished with a little bit of that gold stuff). This is actually a legal tender coin on Nuie Island with a face value of 5 dollars. Can you imagine going to a store and trying to pay with this coin?

Buy this coin here:
https://firstcoincompany.com/S/silver/niue-island-zeus-series-gods-of-olympus-5-silver-coin-2017-antique-finish-ultra-high-relief-rose-gold-plated-2-oz

6 ounces of pure (overpriced) silver to my stack...

Sort:

I am a silver bug too! Silver is really very cheap now with gold/ silver ratio around so I purchase silver coins and bars regularly. Your coins look quite uncommon and I don't have any one of them. Which is your favourite mint?

I'll go with the mint of Poland because I really like the Zeus coin.

Thank you, i will take a look into their coins. :) I usually come across coins from Royal Canadian, Perth and the Royal Mint.

wow yeah that REALLLy caught my eyes!

Nice coins, they will be cheap purchased now when you look back in a few years time.

Those are cool! Here's a bit of overpriced silver you won't want to miss :)

Why would you spend over $200 on a 2 ounce silver coin?

What? Open your eyes! Do you not see how beautiful that coin is...my precious...

LOL

Nice here is one of mine Royal Canadian Mint

Very nice. It looks like you obtained your coin from Mirror Earth though, a rare find!

LOL.

Mirror Earth ha!!

I don't have any silver or gold.

The stuff I bought for my dad when I was in high school, got cleaned out when my ____ brother cleaned out my dad's condo when he died before I could get there and actually oversee things fairly and then he changed the locks on me.

The key I had since I was a kid, for the last 35 yrs. did not work, that was a sad day to see the disrespect shown by him.

wow so sad to hear family members screwing each other over so biblically for "a few pieces of silver" lol its ok ur brother will get karma but then again its ur brotheer and u dont want ur brothe rgetting bad karma, but ya u will make so much money here on steemit and whenur brother oins steemit we can all grill him and tell him how he should pay u ome steem fo rthose coins lol blockchain will help air out eeryones dirty laundry! It will be good for transparency an familis will even be broight closer together!

We have a lot of silver investors here on steemit. I'm a Morgan collector; but I have some similar coins. My favorite collection is my Hot Wheels collection, and my second favorite collection is my silver collection.

Are you ever concerned with fakes? I saw on YT where guys let the coin slide down a small slide of neodymium magnets to tell if real or fake.

Yes, I do worry about it. I perform tests on my silver, as described in this old post:
https://steemit.com/silverbugs/@neoxian/silverbugs-neoxian-s-guide-to-testing-your-silver

OK cool! That was before I was here!

I do have one of the slides made by cct or cybercurtaintwitcher on youtube.
The original slide as far as i know

This is my one in zebrano

I clicked, getting ready to get really sarcastic... I thought you were gonna tell me that silver was currently overpriced! hahaha!
I don't know when we'll be saying that about silver... not for a little while, anyhow.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you my friend have a lot of beautiful coins there!
Over priced?
I don't think so, rarity is worth more than common everyday assets.

THIS is a great time for investing in silver and we will not regret it

Great stacks @neoxian! Even cooler art:)

They look indeed SUPER NICE!

@neoxian, those are some really incredible pieces. And it is the perfect time to pick up some extra coins (ounces).

I like the Zeus coin! That is bad ass!

So much for your retirement. lol

Nice coins! I have been watching how they preform on eBay sellers are getting mid thirties to lower thirties for them. That is the auction results. I usually go with auction results to get the true value of coins because that is what people are willing to pay for them. I didn't know they are on sale. What dealer has them discounted. Might be a good time to jump in.

I was thinking of getting some silver to diversify a little and I just like it, specially in the coin form. I like the design on the South Korean Silver Clay Chiwoo Cheonwang, its slick. So used to seeing American coins that its good to see some others.

Really cool man, thanks for sharing. I picked up a couple of the 10 oz Pegusus rounds off Mike Maloney's goldsilver.com site - overpaid but they are stunningly gorgeous pieces.
LMAN.GIF

I like SilverShieldExchange's coins too, but he's really, really against crypto.

I like those also, just received one. I call them 1oz silver art rounds.

Oh I was thinking about those.

That two-tone one is pretty awesome! Nice lookin' overpriced coins you have there ;)

@neoxian those are awesome pieces of silver. I really like the rose gold plated zues coin.

very informative post - much appreciated, silver is the MOST undervalued commodity ever - the price will explode one day! - Upvoted and following.

It's on sale thanks to manipulation. People not buying it will be hating themselves in the future.

Some beauties! I'm especially fond of that 2 ounce Niue Islands coin - absolutely stunning! Upvoted, thanks for sharing with us!

Silver is an incredible buy right now.

I think the gold/silver ratio has traditionally run at about 16:1 which should have silver at over $75/oz. not the sub $17 it is right now.

There are some crazy shenanigans going on behind the scenes and while I do own a couple of MS69 Silver Dollars, the majority of my tiny silver stash is in "junk" silver.

I even found a big portion of it.

The kids have been getting silver rounds for birthdays and Xmas.

I found that the most cost effective source for small amounts is silver.com, even with shipping, they often beat prices at my local coin shops.

I pay mine in silver too for extra work.

Thanks for sharing....some very nice coins there! Upvoted & followed!

How JP Morgan has kept Silver down is nothing less than amazing, and a buying opportunity practically unsurpassed. I have very little to invest, but did get some junk silver. When JPM pulls the trigger I wouldn't be surprised to see Silver hit $600/oz.

Not so long ago I used to buy Gold Austrian Coronas on Ebay, and get them delivered to my house below spot at $600/oz or so. Unfortunately the world ended, and so did my collection.

Well, it begins again. Thanks for putting this bug back in my ear!

informative post. thank u
i think that i will invest silver.

You should see the new forks I got!

Stainless Steel!

Time for a fork post.

I was thinking about doing a precious metals parody of a certain member here. Including forks and a few empty beer cans as props. Afraid people wouldn't get the joke though.

I would love that post.

Ironically I posted tonite with my charting and used the numbers about the SILVER lining for Steem/Steemit here amidst the bloodbath, we really are doing well here, if you look at those numbers...

You really are a silverbug man, you post regularly, add to your stack and this stuff is like artwork, honestly.

I admire the way you go about this aspect of your life.

And your nice cataloguing it for yourself, actually is educational for a lot of us you know.

Thanks man. Hope you are well.

Thanks for stopping by. i've been busy lately!

LMK if you have any silver you do not want, and would be willing to work something out with me, I like you - I know you will be fair.

I don't know the market but it does not take long to chart stuff out. It has been on my mind.

Thanks for sharing that. These coins are awesome. I love silver that's why I'm wearing two silver rings right now. 😊

Pics or it didn't happen.

Sorry! I didn't understand your reply.. but are you asking me for my pics or you are telling something. If you are asking me for rings that's on my one of the post. And thanks for concerning me. Coz I'm new here. I read your post and I loved it what makes me to follow u as well. 😃

Oh I'm sorry, yes I was asking to see picture of your rings. If you have posted them, I can go look.

Yes. They are on my post but I haven't posted specifically on my rings. you can see them in my post what I have posted 3 days ago. I was working on a chart for my cousin's children summer school homework and she clicked my picture. Checkout I'm wearing two silver rings there and if you are an animal lover then checkout my introduction post . I hope u will enjoy my work.

Ok, found it. Thanks, nice rings.

Have you checked my introduction post? Please checkout that. Hope u will like it.

The coin artwork is really beautiful.

I think silver is undervalued aswell. Wall street is artificially suppressing its price. Love the Zeus coin though. How much was it?

Zeus one looks really good , and i like everyting greek related :)

Awesome coins and pics!
I see signs that the metals may make a run. Here is what I wrote about those signs.
https://steemit.com/gold/@motowngold/the-gold-train-may-finally-be-ready-to-leave-the-station

Those look pretty awesome. Rare coins usually rise in value more than just the material they were made of. I have a few that my parents bought decades ago, but I would never sell them.

I am a greek and your post is very beautiful...!!

I am silver stacker also. Will buy more if silver dips in deflation, other wise it will be off to the moon when dollar dies of hyper inflation.

Great advice! I'm lookin into some cheap stuff like you said then maybe ill try collecting a couple coins! my family has some of these

Time to get my own stash!

@corvo, thought you might find this interesting.

you can find free silver coins in Kennedy Half dollar boxes, i used to get em from Chase and go throgh four boxesa day three times a week and saved up $1400 in silver coins in a month! one time i eft the box of 1000 half collar cooins on rroof of my car and i went a mile and turned a cornr and SPLASh 1000 fifty cent pieces flew into the street and oonto an intersection and i had to ick tem all up with some kids who had seen it all, i only lost like 4 cons i ended up picking up $498 off thee streets of Point Loma, san diego, ca (over by Point Loma High coming up froom voltaire) and sidewalks LOL glad i ast on the freeeway!

I would find ALOT of benjaminfranklins and even wallking lierty halfs from the 1940s! in beautiful condition! this wwas the funnest hobby ever and now peopel dont do it cu silver is so low but when i would hunt for then with $40 silver i would make $five to six off the 40 percent clads (1970 to 1965) and like $25 off the 90 percet ons (1964 and before)

But remember my theory abot the asteroid mining of the asteroid belts! when they start bringing back gold and silver and platiinum filled asteroids to earth it will inflate the prices and gold could go down to $1000 anounce silver to $1 or fifty cents! People will buy crypto and bitcoin and ethereum and steem instead of gold and silver esecialy large central baks like in india and chian etc theyll be using crypto and gold and silver will be worth less...the prices arent jus beiing manipulated we arealso experiencing a huge glut with all the gold and silver mines being creted from all the investment people made into gold and silver mining ETfs and stuff LOL

Also when gold and silver are NOT the only alternatuve to fat...thenalt of that money will go into Bitcoinand crypto whenit would have goe it gold an silver!

and alot of the central bank will be protected by crypto currency! they will slowly convert that fiat paper dollars and paper money into blockchain money and it will be an organice process an yeah gold and silver are cool, and we should buymeetal detectors!

i live near some very large gold and silver and gestone deposuts and i will be hunting for Toruamline and coorful blue an purple type quartz type ctsrayls angive em to steemit users!

I will be doing gold metal detecting near r he san diego river onpublic lands here in san diego with my old Vietnam war vet neighbor Stefan who i wil be interviewing soon along with my parents and Rock the inspirational disabled paralyzed guy who wants to tell steemit our story especially help @darthnva ad inspire alll disabled steemit users!

I cant wait to get all steemit users into Gold an SIlver coin rooll hunting And metal detcting and REAL mining lol AND get all steemit users into crypto itcoin and ethereum analtcoin mning AND get every steemit user ino legal canabis growing if they can in their state or country AND growing other unievsrally legal plants that anyone can grow!

we all need to be growing Food plants an frit trees and creaing a network of seed banks and sending clones and cloning gel anc cuttings to all steemit users who ant to start growng plants of all types!

we will even make a special Canbis strain named "Steemit " or "Steemit Kush" hahaha

Huge Silver investor here! One The only true forms of money. At this present moment I believe so over is the Best Buy in the planet of all the assets. And I believe that the MS 65 Morgan dollar is the best purchase ! These coins usually sell at a very high premium to the melt value of the coin. But due to the huge down frend that premium has been suppressed to some of the lowest levels in history. At a point in history the premium over melt value of the MS 65 Morgan dollar was as high as 800%!! Another great must own investment is junk silver pre-19 64 half dollars , quarters, and dimes!

I kind of like the Canada $20 for $20 series. It's overpriced for the amount of silver you get (only 1/4 ozt) but they seem like a great collectible and they are worth at least $20.

I'm a silver bug too! Nice to meet you!

I'm going on 3000 ounces of Ag over 10+ years of buying, so I guess I'm a bug too, but while i do have some eagles, mostly what I would suggest people buy are Silver Rounds.

In a SHTF scenario where the $ is useless and you come to me with some Au or Ag and want a premium because it comes with a little certification paper I'm going to laugh at you.

999, 9999 or ever 99999 silver is all any buyer is going to give a rats behind about.

forget numismatic silver or gold, get bulk Silver or bulk Gold rounds in 1 oz size.

My 2 cents, I've bought allot of it and as of now, I don't sell any, so maybe I know what I'm talking about, maybe not. ( deep heavy LOL )...

PS, if you don't get the point, or think I'm joking please read it again, it's the real deal on buying silver...

And where you buy is a bonafide Mint online.

-apmex, silver, *provident are all reputable precious metals dealers.

If anyone has any questions I am more than happy to answer them regarding buying silver.

I suppose if ever, this is the best time to buy overpriced coins.

I am more of a gold-bug myself, however, those coins do look like collector items.
