The good thing about manipulation is someone knows something that most don't. If a group or entity goes out of their way to manipulate a market or asset, it's because they want to acquire as much as they can of said asset before the market correction and true value is reached (higher value in this case).

This is a perfect "If you can't beat them, join them" scenario. If manipulator keeps driving price down, the ideal situation would be to "piggyback" off them and benefit from low prices.

In the case of metals, this theory works more with physical than electronic or marginal trading.
