Doubt Drowns One

in #short7 years ago (edited)

** There was a precepter who was a great scholar. He had many disciples. They had great faith in the preceptor.**
** One day one of the disciples was going to a village near by. The sky was very cloudy. There were flashes of lightening too. No sooner had he gone a little distance then it began to rain.**

  • He returned and told the perceptor, " Sir, it rained heavily. There are rivers and streams on the way. There would be floods. How can I cross them ? I dont know how to swim." *
** The perceptor said, " God helps all. Go, chanting his name and cross them."**
  • The disciple had great faith in the perceptor. His fear vanished away. He started his journey. Going further he arrived at a stream. With complete faith he uttered the name of the Lord and crossed the stream.*
** The other day the perceptor too had to go to that village. He thought . " Believing my word my disciple crossed the river. So there would be no difficulty for me also. I will certainly cross the stream." **
  • The perceptor walked up to the river. When he reached on the bank of the river doubt arose in his mind, " Really ,can I cross this?"*
** With fear in his heart the perceptor waded into the water. As there was doubt in his mind, while he might not have taken even four or five steps in the water, his legs began to tremble and he slipped. The current swept him away. He tried to swim, but in vain. He was drowned in the water.**
** The doubt drowned him in the water.**
