However to say that parents are now at risk of having their children taken away just because of issues around sexuality is absurd. The law merely includes a child's sexuality and gender identity as a potential aspect of the pattern of abuse inflicted upon the child by a caregiver. It's just one more thing to take into account. Other forms of abuse would have to have occurred to warrant the government stepping in.
