I do not agree with your assessment that Bill 89 is 'totalitarian' and allows the government to steal children from decent, god-fearing Christian parents, blah blah blah. However to say that parents are now at risk of having their children taken away just because of issues around sexuality is absurd. The law merely includes a child's sexuality and gender identity as a potential aspect of the pattern of abuse inflicted upon the child by a caregiver. It's just one more thing to take into account. Other forms of abuse would have to have occurred to warrant the government stepping in.
Unless you think it's ok for a child to be beaten by his parents because he's gay.
