Journalist Union Jessore (JYUJ) has expressed deep concern over the incident of armed terrorist attack on Chhatra League-Jubo League in Kushtia on 22 July on the editor of the daily Amar Desh, the courageous and fearless journalist Mahmudur Rahman.

Journalists said in the statement, Mahmudur Rahman appeared in Kushtia court on July 22 for bail in a defamation suit in 500 section. Local BCL and Jubo League activists tried to attack the court area to give slogans against him after he got ready to return to Dhaka after getting bail. In this situation Mahmudur Rahman took shelter in his court with the order of senior judicial magistrate MM Morshed. But the demonstrators, the BCL-Jubo League cadres, surrounded the court area. After being locked up in the court for a few hours, the court brought him out of Dhaka after asking him to return to Dhaka, armed cadres of BCL-Jubo League attacked him and hit him with his head and face and hit the whole body with bloody injuries. During his visit, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General M Abdullah, Engineer Reazul Islam Rizu, leader of the engineers, Agitist leader Shamimur Rahman Shamim attacked and attacked the attackers. They killed Mahmudur Rahman, along with his entourage, to death and attacked him and his vehicle was vandalized.
The journalist leaders also said that the people of the country including the journalist community were shocked and deeply concerned about the terrorist attack on the court premises on a secretary. Such attacks include the obstruction of free expression, extreme obstruction to democracy and freedom of the media. It can not be accepted in any way.
The leaders demanded immediate punishment by arresting those involved in this nasty terrorist attack. Otherwise, they gave a call to Jessore journalist society and asked them to go to the streets.
