Ping update services for WordPress – Simple SEO

in #seo7 years ago

Everyone that makes WordPress blogs normally wants people to be able to find their website, a good way to do this is to use update services. WordPress has an inbuilt function that allows you to add multiple URLs to ping when a new post is posted.

What can this do for your blog?

Using update services is a good method of pushing your new posts to search engines, services such as Ping-O-Maticping your URLs to mainstream search engines, allowing people to easily find your posts.

How do I add this to my site?

Not all Content Managment Systems (CMS) have this function, but it should be pretty easy to find with a quick Google Search, but for WordPress, it’s pretty simple. Just go to Settings > Writing, here you will be able to edit, remove and add sites to ping.

The main url to use is: http://rpc.pingomatic.com but here is a short list for you:

http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
http://ping.blo.gs/
http://rpc.twingly.com/
http://ping.feedburner.com
http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
http://ping.blo.gs/
http://rpc.twingly.com/
http://ping.feedburner.com

What this feature does is whenever you create a new post on your WordPress blog, the site then pings (Posts data) to these update services and then it’s added to the search engines, meaning that you don’t have to manually do it by yourself.
