MIGUEL HERE! - MY SELF-INTRODUCTION TO HIVE

"IMPORTANTE BUHI"

“Importante buhi!” The two words I usually live by accordingly in my life. Do you want to know what it means? well, it’s a Bisaya (Dialect in Cebu, Philippines) phrase that I got from a friend a while back when I was drinking away my sorrows, they said it in a joking tone but I took it in deeper way, it basically translates to “what’s important is that we’re alive” and after that the rest is history, I took those two words in my dialect and turned it into a motivational phrase to keep me going. We’ll get back to those two words later, I haven’t really introduced myself properly.

In my introduction post here on HIVE I want to give you guys a little bit of my perspective in this life of mine, I’d like to share some of my stories and a couple of experiences I’ve had in the course of my teenage years. They all say writing is an outlet for that heave feeling we all get and I’d like to try it here first on HIVE. Hopefully it will entertain the readers and maybe be helpful to some of you guys. Enjoy 😉

Hi, the name’s Miguel. in a province called Leyte located in the Philippines, I live in a little town called Ormoc city, it’s a beautiful place and also the people in it, they even nicknamed the place “The city of beautiful people” sounds about right, I guess. I don’t look bad myself(lol).

I live here with my family parents and my four sisters; they are my pride and joy and I would have never gotten this far in my life if it wasn’t for them. Being grateful for your family is normal, you all can relate to that right? Cause I do, they have tolerated me and gave me patience like no other and I wouldn’t trade them for the world or even the entire universe. “Through thick and thin” We may annoy each other on a daily basis or get on each other’s nerves but hey that’s family and we will all be laughing it off at the end of the day because Family is where we get what we call “unconditional love”. It is home and theirs is no place like home.

I am a very spontaneous and an impulsive decision maker, most of the times is gets me into a lot of trouble. I have this unorthodox type of attitude that causes the trouble, though sometimes I’m too timid to get into trouble. It’s a complicated mix but it works for me. Because of that I made a lot of friends, especially during my teenage years but before all that I was a happy go lucky kind of kid who goes along with anything as long as it piqued my interests, in elementary school I would always have lunch at different houses because I always asked anyone of my classmates if I could go and have lunch at their place, it seemed fun to me at that time, it made me question what kind of houses do they live in and what sort of food their parents cook or do they cook for themselves. A very curious little boy I was.

I have a lot of dreams I want to achieve in life and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. When I was a kid Every time someone would ask me “what do you want to be when you grow up?” I would always say something different like a doctor, a police officer, join the army, be scientist, an inventor, or an astronaut. It was either any of those, it wasn’t that I was lying to all of them but I really wanted to be this all-in-one kind of person, to be relied on when the opportunity comes and at some point, I had a dream where I wanted to change the world. I once wanted to be the president, not just any president but the president of the world which is by now a very unrealistic feat because there is no such thing, I realized that when I got older which was a disappointment but at least that felt good inside my head trying create a world with peace and such but that’s all too good to be true… for now(jk).

I am now 20 years old and turning 21 soon a young adult as some would call, I have yet to earn a college degree due to my laziness and mistakes I made in my teenage years, it is why I got held back a couple years in my education. I was a pretty good student in my early days in life, not the straight A’s kind but one that could get pass the grade level without any studying kind of student. The only vices I got as a kid was playing a lot of games on my computer or going to a café till it reached midnight if my sister was using our PC which was pretty decent life until I reached high school, the peak of my foolishness that was yet to arrive. It all started coming together when I made it to the 9th grade, I got caught up into a lot of vices which lead to a lot of going out at night and going home early in the morning with no sleep and a hazy memory then sleeping all day and waking up with a banging hangover, rinse and repeat. It sucked and it went on for quite a while, a couple of years to be exact.

I have no excuses to why I made all those decisions, and I don’t regret them one bit. One time me and some close friends of mine we’re drinking late at night and it was a point in our lives where we all messed up and wanted to change for the better but it was a funny moment, ranting about our mishaps and where we went wrong because we we’re all drunk then one of my friends uttered the words in our dialect and shouted “Importante buhi!” we all laughed and realized yeah we’re still alive and there’s still a chance for redemption, we just got to work hard for that to happen. After that little incident, I guess we could say that it changed us in ways we wouldn’t expect. We all went our separate ways after that and started a life for the better. So now when some unfortunate event happens to me or my girlfriend, we just all jokingly and meaningfully say “importante buhi!” and it tells us that there’s a chance to make it work and just do whatever is necessary.

Now that I am turning 21 soon and have changed a lot since then, I went to the gym lost a couple of weight, I took my shot with the girl of my dreams and now we’re happily together, made it past senior high school which was a proud moment. And now I want to start learning crypto currencies and NFTs and also learn more about programming. I want to spend my 20s doing productivity and taking steps to obtain success. I am now in my first year of college trying to achieve a bachelor’s degree in computer science. I have regained my confidence and will be doing my best from now on. With the support of my wonderful family and my amazing girlfriend I doubt I’ll be failing anytime soon and if I do, I’ll just get back up and keep going.
