Car Talk - Material Possessions and What They Actually Represent

dtube divider small.png

Greetings to you my friend. Welcome to a little fire-side chat with me @kenmelendez today as I communicate with you from my automobile...better known as my car. Today I am extremely relaxed and in a state of deep thought. I feel like when I express my ideas to you in different mental and emotional states, you then get to experience different sides of me that you may not have known existed.

I'd like to spend a moment with you focusing on material possessions. Now, right out of the gate, you might have preconceived notions regarding that topic. Perhaps you have certain beliefs surrounding the attainment of possessions. You may have been raised in a home where you felt you didn't deserve to have nice things. Perhaps your parents kept telling you that they couldn't afford different items that you really wanted as a kid.

This message serves to smash the negative and dis-serving beliefs surrounding material possessions, and to help you realize that it isn't wrong to desire them. It isn't a bad thing to WANT material possessions. Obviously, there is a line we shouldn't cross as we do not want to idolize our things. People and God are always more important and more valuable.

To me, physical or material possessions represent who we have grown to become as human beings. To break that down a bit more, I basically am saying that the more we grow as leaders, as entrepreneurs, as business experts in our industries, we naturally will tend to express that growth in the form of physical things.

For instance, I desire to own a fancy sports car as well as a 5 bedroom home with a hot tub in my bedroom. It is not inherently wrong to desire those possessions. I use them as visualization techniques to help motivate me to take action. The action then moves me closer towards my goals, specifically in business. As I take more action, I am consistently improving my skill sets along with my mindset. Personal growth and self-development are critical to the success of any entrepreneur.

Like I mentioned in the video, I am calling this post Car Talk because sometimes I like shooting from my car. It's quiet and I feel like I can get REAL with you guys and truly open up. I feel like @dnews right now actually. Vince! Where are you bud? Haven't seen a post from you in a while, hope you are doing OK.

Anyways, when you are becoming more, when you are living up to your full potential, you are naturally going to attract more of what you want in your life. For me, I want solid relationships, massive wealth, and crazy awesome health. In order to attain those things in my life, I need to become better each day. To fulfill the vision God has for my life, I need to break out of my shell and grow into the fullness of who I was created to be.

So, to wrap this up, there is nothing wrong with desiring possessions... just don't allow them to possess you! The more you grow and the more you live up to your full potential, then the more you have the opportunity to attain as far as physical items. Or, if you prefer the minimalistic lifestyle instead, then absolutely that works too. Whichever lifestyle you prefer, then live it out to the best of your ability.

Remember this my friend... whatever you want in life... you can have. I didn't realize this earlier in life, but I do now. That is why I pay close attention to where I place my focus and what my desires are. I recently posted about a similar topic here if you want to take a look.

Feel free to check out the video to hear these words spoken straight from my mouth. I care about you, I love you, and I appreciate you. Hope you have an incredible rest of your day. As always, leave your thoughts and comments below as I read each and every one of them.

💁💕 Always love your posts @kenmelendez ! Everyone has different wants and desires , whether its like me who desires a small country house on my 1.5 acre property in the mountains, a big garden, some chickens and to just be able to blog on Steemit during the day without working night shifts anymore, and go fishing when I want lol!! To owning a big house and Lambo! Haha! Our wants and desires are all attainable , and it really is limitless.
💁💕 I agree that there's totally nothing wrong with desires and dreams which can come true, and that's how I was raised! But now im 55 my sons are 31 & 28 And i really just want to be retired early as above and live happily ever after with my boyfriend of 13 years now... Upped and resteemed!👍👍👍✌💁

Karen McKersie strikes again! In a good way of course. You made my day Karen 😀 Thank you for always being there. I used to work night shifts and they are no fun at all. Hope you retire soon and do Steem all day long! Are you guys going to tie the knot soon?

Nice Ken! I think it is very important to work on ourselves in order to achieve those things that we want. For example, let's say I want to find a girl that likes to play sports and is fit. Most likely I will find her if I too am fit, etc. So maybe moving huh? Come to Arizona! Lol :) You can still drive that lambo when it is 115 degrees outside. haha

Absolutely Matt. Like attracts like. Arizona huh? I’m not opposed to the idea 😉

hahaha yeah! Arizona is awesome! haha and when it is hot, it only takes 1.5 hours to get to the mountains and escape the heat, but the truly magnificent mountains are 3 hours away. By the way that is awesome that you like rock climbing! I used to climb all the time. I started climbing in Yosemite. :) I also competed a few times in indoor climbing competitions back in the day. It was awesome, best shape of my life back in those climbing days. haha

Matt...I liked you before...now I like you EVEN MORE 🙌🏻

hahahaha thanks Ken! :)

Of course we must WANT what we have and VALUE our goods, visualize abundance, Because God wants us to be prosperous and happy.

He sure does @anasuleidy! What father would not want his children to be happy?

I prefer to listen to your conversation in DTube than in Youtube. The video quality is actually quite good.

Yes! I agree 🎉

A quick comment @kenmelendez , I also love talking and shooting my videos from my car at work where im all alone with no interruptions at 3 or 5 am lol!
Just wanted to add , as you asked, that I think calling the show "Car Talk" Even though i really love the name, may lead people to think your going to talk all about cars, or car repairs etc. Keep up the great work my friend, I would lve to come up with a name myself ! 😄👍✌💕

Good point Karen. I’ll keep that in mind

Well said @kenmelendez,

Have material possessions or been wealthy is not bad, but don't just allow it to control you because there is more to life than just material things.

Nice chat! Powerful argument!

Until recently, I didn't think I could have financial security and good health at the same time @kenmelendez - this was an unconscious thought for the most part.

But I am now taking a leap of faith, and I'm believing that I can have all-around good health and still remain financially secure!
