If I could go back to my 20's to be prepared to ace my 30's

in #self-prospective7 years ago (edited)

Every now and then I think about different ways I could have changed my life so much if only I had a time machine to go back and start my 20's again. Changes from day to day habits, to long term thinking prospectives. In the course of life long learnings the realization that life is not only about the achievements you get or the better health you have or how much money you earn or how loving your family is. I believe in some way or another it's about the satisfaction you get from your inner peace. Maybe I'm completely mistaken. May be in the course of life long learnings this reasoning of mine might change. But from this 28 years of experience, I currently believe the rewarding consciousness within yourself matters a lot and makes you keep moving forward in the days to come. To make one's life rewarding, I believe there are certain rules to be self-implemented within oneself. I have listed some of those rules which I believe should be learned and acted upon to ace your 20's and be ready to sail your 30's :

  • Get off the bed as early as you can. Golden hour is 5 A.M.
  • Create your day to day routine. It's one of the hardest things to follow but the best thing to keep yourself organized.
  • Take care of your health. Do an hourly exercise every day at your convenience. Throw that sweat out of your body and get your heart pumping.
  • Don't ever presume about what other people think of you. No one cares, people are busy figuring out their own life. Your life, your choices and your actions create your consequences.
  • Plan a goal. You need to plan where will you spend your valuable time for the years/months/days to come and strictly stick to it.
  • No one will be there for you. You will most of the time be on your own. If you want it, you do it. You might get some help here and there but you will have to work on it.
  • If it didn't work the way you planned it, please don't give up. Man up, get some help, life isn't fair nor it's easy just get back on your feet and try again.
  • Take your time and be patient. You won't be able to see the results in a flash just like you didn’t grow up instantly and got to your 20's in a day.
  • Don't get addicted to anything. Too much of anything is bad for you.
  • Don’t get settled down in your twenties. Most of the people buy expensive cars, do the unnecessary spending, accumulate too much debt - but, that's ok it's their life, not your's. Think about if it's worth it to you if it does not don't even bother.
  • Treat everyone around you with love and respect and don't be judgmental. Focus only on yourself.
  • Think about how to make money. More money will not buy you happiness but lack of it will buy you misery. Find ways to manage your finances.
  • You will make many mistakes down the road. Sometimes you will hurt people. But, always learn from your experience and be a better self.
  • Throw out that ego off of you. Not everything is about you. Be humble, grateful and gracious for the things you have and genuinely apologize when you are wrong.
  • Relationships. If you want one, go for it, but always be smart about it and never put yourself in a compromising position that will affect you in any way.
  • Respect and care for your parents. You might not agree with your parents all the time but whatever they say comes from a love for you.
  • Always keep up your happy face and smile. The journey of self-discovery is going to be long and miserable. Enjoy the trip and never ever stop learning.

P.S. I may not have covered all of it but these are some of the important thoughts to consider.
