Sirajuddaula attained the power of the Nawab of Bengal in 1756 at the age of 23, from his nawab Alivardi Khan. Due to betrayal of his commander Mir Jafar, he was defeated by the Battle of Plassey on 23 June 1757. The East India Company, led by Robert Clive, took over the rule of Bengal.
Birth and Genealogy Edit
Sirajuddaula was born in 1733. [1] Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula was the grandson of Nawab Alivardi Khan of Bengal. Alivardi Khan had no son. He had three daughters. He gave three daughters to his eldest brother, Haji Ahmad, three sons of Noazesh Mohammed, Ghaseti Begum, daughter of the elder daughter of Sayed Ahmed and younger daughter Amenah Begum with Joyenuddin Ahmad. Amena Begum had two sons and a daughter. The sons are Mirza Mohammed (Siraj-ud-Daula) and Mirza Mehdi. When Alivardi Khan got the rule of Patna, his third daughter Amena begum was born in Mirza Mohammad (Siraj-ud-Daula). For this reason, he accepted the birth of Siraj as a symptom of luck and adopted the newborn as his adopted son. Siraj was very fond of his grandfather, because he had no son. He grew up in love with his grandfather and love. Siraj-ud-Daula has a difference of opinion or date of birth. But the more acceptable view is that Siraj-ud-Daula was born in 1732. Mir Jafar does not fall in any of his relatives. Kazi Isa became his uncle........
