Since 2008, 138 pyramids have been discovered in Egypt. [1] [2] Most of them are built as the tomb of both their and their wives during the reign of the ancient and medieval pharaohs. [3] [4]
Egypt's oldest pyramids have been discovered in the north-west of Memphis. The oldest of these is the pyramid of Joshaar (2630-2611 BC) during the reign of the Holocaust dynasty. The architect Imhotep designed the design of this pyramid and pyramid-adjacent complex. It is generally considered to be the oldest stone-built structure in the world.
The most famous pyramids in Egyptian pyramids can be seen in Cairo's outskirts. Several of Giza's foundations are considered one of the largest structures in the world. [5]
