Receiving the 2019 ADA Award for Outstanding Leadership

in #security5 years ago

I am truly grateful for being recognized with a 2019 ADA award for Outstanding Leadership in Protecting People’s Information. Bestowed during the Cybersecurity Symposium for Smart Cities 2019, where a tremendous community came together to discuss the challenges, risks, and opportunities facing smart cities.

What will Smart Cities be Called in the Future? Cities.

The cybersecurity challenges being tackled by smart cities today will be revisited by every city in the future. This work and knowledge will endure to pay dividends across the globe as communities continue to embrace digital technologies.

Smart Cities bring a wealth of new capabilities, services, and efficiencies but are accompanied by an equitable level of cyber risks. We have so much work to do, to make the evolving cityscapes secure and trustworthy as they transform into digitally enhanced living and working spaces for citizens. The benefits are tremendous, but so are the emerging risks.

We all have a role to play in learning from yesterday's attacks, addressing the ones pressing against us today, and preparing for those in the future.

Special thanks to Deidre Diamond, Lan Jenson, Peter Rung, Robert Renzulli, Ann Dunkin, Jonathan Reichental, and Gary Hayslip for making the conference an outstanding success and a memorable day of learning and sharing.

Congrats that is awesome!! Well deserved.

Congrats! How smart are smart cities coming along these days?

....getting smarter every day! hahah, okay a smartcity joke.

The real story is that they are progressing, but it is a mix of technologies, solutions, and concepts. Cities are struggling with the threats and mostly looking at the past/present risks. Not yet ready to look forward to anticipate future attacks, but at least they are aware and open to the value of cybersecurity. So progress is being made, which is good for everyone.

Congrats! You deserve it.

The benefits of digital tech will eventually end up in every city as people will demand it, just like clean water, Internet, garbage pick-up, etc. Securing smart cities will become very important.
