So, I just made the switch to the Brave Browser (spearheaded by the former CEO of Mozilla, so I was quite curious how it would turn out).

I'm an avid Chrome user and have been for some time, however I'm always looking for faster, more secure solutions, since I deal with a lot of sensitive information daily.
Installing it was super easy - if you're on a Windows, Mac, or Android/iOS device, simple download your necessary .exe/file and install.

For Linux users wishing to install via terminal, check out the instructions in the image below:

- I currently run an Ubuntu setup as well on my laptop.
- Installing Brave was pretty simply on my laptop - just a few commands to run in the terminal (will paste below).
- Installing it and getting it set up on my phone was a breeze - head on over to the play store, download, and BOOM! Done.
- Out of the box, Brave come preconfigured pretty nicely - just a few minor tweaks I personally made to enhance the security of it even further (as I would recommend you do too).
- Overall I'm happy with the new setup, I moved over my Chrome bookmarks to Brave and thus far am quite happy.

From my understanding Brave is actually just a lightweight version of Chromium, so it should be pretty compatible with most extensions/addons you were used to using previously if you were a big Chrome head like I.

SO far, I have to give it an 8/10 - will report back after I've had more time to play with it!
Have any thoughts of your own? Download it, play around with it for a bit, and let me know what you think?
I'll be doing more tech related posts and some crypto posts moving forward, so if you enjoyed this, please hit me with an upvote, comment, follow, and a resteem!

Really good breakdown. This browser is very exciting. It looks very similar to firefox. Very tempted myself. 😎😎
How are you liking it so far? I really like it blocks most of things
I like it so far - there are some bugs that need to be fixed, of course, but it's very lightweight and i'm loving the security factor, definitely.
Will re-evaluate after another week in the panda lab, for sure!
haha panda lab. my lab has no name :(
Downloading Brave :D
Haha, I had to give the lab a name :P
Check it out and let me know what you think! If enough people around here like it....I may propose a new project idea for SteemIt :D
so been using it for a day. It looks alright and has potential
I was reading their website and noticed this which sadly was the turning point for me

Thanks. I need a 3rd browser. Downloaded Opera but it just seems really slow and clunky for Steemit, so will be happy to delete it and try Brave.
Haha, I only run Chrome and now this - I'm going to play with it for a week and see how things go, and then report back :)
Thanks for linking me this :)
Any time.
Yes thank you for the post... I am switching now :)
No problem, enjoy and lemme know if you have any feedback
I am waiting on getting a new laptop and then going to start using Brave, you'll have to keep me posted on it as you use it. I love the idea that BATS is putting together, cut out the middleman!
Why wait? It's definitely worth giving a try now. I've been running it for a little over 24 hours, haven't played with it much on my mobile device(s) but I'm happy with it thus far.
They do make it slightly more complicated to bring in your favorite extensions, though, so I'll probably do a write up explaining that for anyone that wants to manually do it.
Only laptop I have available right now is my work one...no way I can get that loaded up, especially since the IT admin that always hooked me up just left the company...don't even want to show the new guy what I got on here from the last guy.
Ahhh bummer.
Well, I think you'll like it once you do try it out. You can always give it a whirl on your smartphone.
Yeah, might have to do that. Hell, I'm downloading now haha.
It runs even better on mobile. Desktop isn't super optimized yet, but a great browser.
I haven't messed around on the mobile version much yet, but desktop wise I've found some bugs. I just wish they made integrating extensions/addons easier, though there are really only a few I'd need and then I'd be quite happy.
Thanks for checking this out - will report back in about a week to see what my overall thoughts at that time are.
I am definitely going to check it out on my phone, maybe it's a good thing I don't have a laptop to use it on yet.
Hope all's good to brother. If you get a chance check out the short story I wrote, first story I've written in over a decade. Thinking about maybe turning it into a series if I get enough solid feedback. Missed you on Discord :P
Yeah, shoot a link and i'll check it out.
Thanks.

Sweet, trying to get Google out my life. This should help, cheers brother
Haha it's based on Chromium....Google will still very much be a part of your life :P
Enjoy.
Ah ok, damn it, Google knows more about me than I do, can't stand it anymore

Great spam, beautiful, I love it. 🐼
I hadn't heard of this, thanks for the post!
Give it a try - you just may enjoy it :) I certainly am a fan even after only a days worth of use.
Anything that boosts speed and security with no cost attached is a win in my book.
Have you compared it with Opera?
I've been using Opera for a couple of months now and find it way faster and secure than Chrome. At the same time, all plugins and developer UI is exactly the same as Chrome.
When I tried Brave it didn't support any Chrome plugins. Can you install chrome plugins from the store now?
