An Intelligent Discussion About Scientology

I would like to begin a thread on the subject of Scientology and it's current role within the zeitgeist and upon the religious landscape of the world today. I have seen most of the documentaries on Scientology which offer the supposed truth on what goes on within this organization and I would just like the chance to be genuinely given to any Scientologists who could offer me or others any kind of evidence to refute any claims made by any of these so called suppressive persons. So far, the church has only ever responded in a very childish, strange manner it appears to me. As opposed to an introspective stating of the facts or evidence to the contrary of any of the statements made by anyone who has 'blown' or been 'declared', the Church of Scientology has instead chosen to use smear tactics and underhanded means in order to discredit whoever has made any kind of negative claims against them. The Church of Scientology are actually the ones making themselves look bad with their actions. Surely they can offer a more guided response than to just attack a person's credibility like some back-stabbing children. I believe the Church is capable of intellectual responses and reasonable debate. And often, these documentarians have not even made any kind of negative claims or damaging remarks towards the church (although some have), but instead have chosen to seek the truth and more information to learn about an organization that is clouded in such great mystery. I want to give an outstretched hand, an olive branch if you will, to any current Scientologists or representatives of the church that can give a reasonable, informative declaration of facts, within their capacity within the church. To be quite honest, I am quite intrigued by what I've seen and the information I have seen has instead created a deep intrigue about this organization rather than turn me off to it. I want a chance to be swayed by the other side instead of just seeing them showing up with cameras or acting like elementary schoolers any time someone does a documentary on the subject of Scientology. This is an open call. If you are a Scientologist or involved with the church in any way, please give me some reasonable facts and information. I yearn for the other side to get their proper say on things. And even if you're not a Scientologist, feel free to post your thoughts on this and fuel the discussion.
