An international team of scientists from France, Scotland and Denmark found that the use of the popular analgesic - ibuprofen - in the first trimester of pregnancy adversely affects the fertility of the female fetus. The results of the research are published in the scientific journal Human Reproduction .

It is believed that girls are born with a certain number of eggs, their number is formed even during the intrauterine period and it is no longer possible to change it to the larger side.

Scientists for several years studied the tissues of the ovaries of embryos at the age of seven to twelve weeks. In those samples that were exposed to ibuprofen, the number of eggs was reduced by half, and the number of embryonic cells was reduced to 75 percent.

In other words, an anesthetic or killing the ovule of a fetus, or simply stopped their growth. For a future girl this means the emergence of problems with conception in adult life and the likelihood of early menopause.

Earlier, scientists from the University of Copenhagen found that excessive use of ibuprofen leads to male infertility.
