What is ISRO?
ISRO is also known as Indian Space Research Organisation. It is the space agency of Government Of India headquartered in Bangalore established in 1969. The establishment of ISRO thus institutionalized space activities in India. It is managed by the Department of Space, which reports to the Prime Minister of India.
Achievements
- ISRO created history by launching 104 satellites successfully into the orbit on 15 Feb 2017.
- By replacing Russia’s 37 satellite launch of 2014 , ISRO created a world record.
- In 2016 ISRO creates India’s own satellite navigation system IRNSS
- Has a successful mission to Mars in 2014. This Mission named “Mission Mangalyan” at very low cost.
- In 2008 First Lunar Mission – Chandryaan, puts India in an elite club of 6 nations.
