The down side is no matter how great your posts are in the beginning you won't see many rewards because no one knows how awesome you are. Clever titles and photos, may help a little.

The best way to get known is to check out other steemers' posts and comment. Also, comment on interesting engaging comments because you get paid for commenting, Upvote high quality posts because that brings value to the community and you get paid for that too! When you give value to others you receive rewards, recognition/following and a knowledge.

Thank you for words. I am trying to promote Steemit to every person who will listen to me. As a teacher, my students are very inquisitive about what platform I am using. When I explain it to them, they are first suscipious but then excited about the possibilities.
It is a new way of thinking. To hold value in people that makes a platform work. Who has ever thought of that and made it successful? There are no ads because the value somes from the people.Decentralized/blockchain/free speech/transparent and on and on it goes. Steemit is going opposite of the world's ways. This is going to be bigger than bit-coin.
