NASA's New Mission to the Sun

You may have heard of a NASA's new mission to the sun lately, especially if you are interested in "space" stuff. Since I am VERY interested in such things, I will be regularly posting about the mission, called the Parker Solar Probe Mission, along with other related articles, stories and information I find about our sun.

Today's video is an excellent introduction to the Parker Solar Probe program, and is only about three and one half minutes ong. I wouldn't propose to step on their toes by trying to explain what they talk about in the video, as the video does that quite well for itself. Suffice it to say, I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to watch it.

But, I will say to those that may think this sort of thing is a waste of time, effort and money (that is, flying a probe into the sun), I say that the information we could learn about the sun from this and other missions like it, is immeasurable. The sun is our primary source of energy and, therefore, life in our solar system and, therefore, life as we know it. Yet, we don't fully understand how it works, how it sends out its energy, how long it might last or if there are other ways we can harness its power, replicate its functions or somehow store its life giving rays to use when we require it.

So, watch the video and see if you come to think like I do: that this could be the start of a new era for planet Earth.
