The German aerospace agency DLR has created the artificial sun. With this help, scientists look at the unknown world of temperature and radiation.
Artificial sun structure:
The structure of 149 reflector lamps in the German city of Ulysses is the artificial sun. Even though it may look normal, it can be generated from 3,000 degree Celsius. This gives 10 times more radiation than sunlight.
Heat sports:
The projector light of 149 powerful laps is concentrated in one place. All lights are focused on a small size equal to the size of a golf ball. And then the heat of 3,000 degrees Celsius arises. So much heat dissolves any metal in seconds.
Different from the sun:
Normally the sunlight falling on the Earth changes all the time. Moisture, dust and other elements present in the atmosphere keep changing in radiation at all times. This does not happen with the artificial sun inside the huge lab.
The same environment:
Radiation research is done through the same environment within the lab. It is seen how radiation affects different chemicals and natural elements. During the experiment the light can be reduced or increased.
No material:
But scientists have a difficult problem in front of them. The problem is, what material should be used to tolerate the temperature of 3,000 degrees? Most of the substances on the Earth can afford temperatures up to a maximum of 1,800 or 2,000 degrees Celsius.
The challenge of creating a reactor:
In such a way, the challenge is to create a reactor for heat of 3,000 degrees. The reactor that is currently made can afford temperature of 1,800 degree Celsius.
Hydrogen build:
Actually, the steam of water starts breaking at hydrogen and oxygen at 1,400 degree Celsius. Scientists want to build hydrogen on a large scale with the help of solar energy and artificial sun.
