It’s made of 60 carbon atoms and is called Buckminsterfullerene or more tenderly… Buckyball.
First discovered in 1985 and presented to the public in 1990, Buckyball is a perfect sphere similar to a dome. Its name is obviously a tribute to Buckminster Fuller, who popularized the geodesic dome in the US.
