Does Consciousness exist outside the Brain?

in #science7 years ago

Have you ever wondered if consciousness -- that is the state of being aware of oneself or something -- also exists 'outside' the brain?

Or perhaps to put it differently: can minds communicate with each other without using the five common senses in what may be described as a "web of consciousness"? And if so, what does this implicate for our reality and what is the nature of this "web of consciousness" ?

The quest in finding the answers to these questions is perhaps already the first step in gaining an understanding into the nature of consciousness. And on this quest many new findings may upset our current understanding of the world.

In this video the narrator asks: "It may be the ultimate unresolved mystery of human life: how and why does consciousness exist?"
