It's official ! The obsession with the selfies is a mental disorder

in #science7 years ago

If you are among those who enjoy selfie photos, then must know that you suffer from a mental disorder that they called "Selfitis".

This is proved by a new research by scholars of Nottingham Trent University and was published in the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction. The study was set in motion on the justification of a fake news, which was published in 2014, stating the existence of the "sephlitis", an illness that the diseased person is obsessed with selfies.

In the end, scientists had decided to rummage the probability of such a disorder and have come to its end. A similar incident was recorded to have happened in 1995, at that time Mark D. Griffiths had written in a newspaper referring to the persistence of people with the Web. He was the first to talk regarding disorders due to the products of the technology.

In whatever way, concerning the current " sephlitis " overview, it was based on iformation assembled by leastwise 600 Indian students, as their country has the most Facebook users. In the framework of this study, they create" the Selfitis Behavior Scale", on the authority of which they can dictate to what extent someone is afflicted by the disorder.

The rate extent goes from 1 to 5, where 1 is selected as "I completely disagree " and 5 is selected as "I totally agree". Someone who is eager to know to what level is his "sylphitis" should choose from 1 to 5 to reply to expressions, as "sharing selfies is a healthy competition between friends" and" I think I am more popular when I put my selfies in the social networks ".

Dr. Janarthanan Balakrishnan claims that generally, people who have this illness suffer from a lack of self-confidence and they could probably experience the same symptoms of other potentially addictive behaviors.

I most definitely think we should throw some tax dollars at this problem :-)

And perhaps Government could fund psychology chairs at several prominent universities with full scholarships for a bevy of post doctoral fellows. These academicians could produce papers which they could read at symposiums around the globe. Papers that could, of course, come up with the definitive conclusion:
"More study is warranted"!

There is almost no end to the possibilities (if, of course, you disregard the crypto revolution underway).

Free education for everybody! LOL

"More study is warranted"! EPIC LOL :-) @onceuponatime
Love u

Do you think that I have a future in sarcastic comments?

I could keep Piling my comments h and Deeper until the PhD in them was noticed and I too would get to travel the world to pontificate at symposiums amidst all the others who have piled things higher and deeper :-)

Ha ha ha ha. I think you have got it my friend. However, I wonder how do you manage your comments to be sarcastic and contemplative at the same time? That's what I like about exchanging comments with @onceuponatime :-)

Trick of the trade.

You have to teach me how to @onceuponatime ;-)

My point is that a real disorder lies with those who are planning the disorder of the world to create new garbage scientists and as many as possible sick people. I think that man has to be at the center of his own and plan his life so that he does not need to make noise with a picture, a sound or something shocking.

You have a point there my friend. They practically turn the need of people to create memories, into a disorder :-(

@mariaentela my sister, I'm studying psychology, and I can not write a great post like this one. This is called capacity, my darling .

@annadeda My capacity can't come even close to yours my shining star

so basically it has nothing to do with the selfie itself. its just an expression of the underlying illness. Its like people who look into the mirror 100 times a day...you wouldnt call that "Mirrorlytis" or whatever... its the same with everything in life. too much of it isnt good. that doesnt make the thing itself an evil. there are people who still think that the internet is a bad thing that noone needs...

exactly. Thanks for stopping by

Nice post, upvoted and resteemed

thank you so much

Do you also have some insights about the combination of selfies and the famous "duckface"? I dont take so often selfies myself, only sometimes together with someone else but then its just a memory and not to upload somewhere :)

Haha! Interesting to know about "selfitis"! Good sharing :)

Thank you for reading

I already sensed that people who took a lot of time with selfies have some degree of madness haha.
