… that’s even taller than the Empire State Building! The ginormous wave was caused by an earthquake of magnitude 7.7-8.3 which triggered a landslide in a remote bay along the southern coast of Alaska. Approximately 30 million cubic metres of material fell down into the ocean from a height of 914 metres (3,000 feet), generating the massive tsunami. Although this does sound like a recipe for disaster, fortunately, nobody got hurt.
