For all of you suffering from the heatwaves in the Northern Hemisphere...

in #science6 years ago

Here is a little of what we are getting down South.

Where I stay we only ever get snow once a decade or so and even then it not much to speak of. Winter came really late but we have had some good frost on the ground in the mornings and icing on vehicles etc in the last week or two.

Frost and snow make for the coolest close up photography.

For instance this photo shows how a scratch or streak on a window will act as the site of condensation/condensation nucleus and freezing of water vapor and then ice crystals will form from there, leaving much of the rest of the surface unscathed.

Condensation nuclei or sites are where the atoms that need to condense or freeze find it most favorable to do so. The surface of the substance at those points most matches the atomic structure of the soon to be formed crystal and so the very smallest crystals form there more easily.

Once some small crystals of H2O have settled on the foreign surface others will naturally follow suit if freezing conditions prevail and so each crystal steadily grows in size.

Depending on the angle of the first layer of crystals the larger crystal may even extend upwards vertically.

or point out in many directions.

It’s global warming , one day it’s hot and the next it’s chilly . In NYC we have a lot of heat waves coming and going

nice science research even planning to research on the nature and global warming

As a child in the eighties in northern Europe I had a lot of heat waves in the summer but with in between a couple of rainy days and that was very pleasant!

In UK, temprature has touched 38.5 C, in India most of the cities are drown.
It's really weired.

Crazy nature does stuff like this... haha
Power of science!

a useful work on science,i have to learn a lot from you sir @gavvet

Nice post
Sir i am new on Steemit can I get your single upvote it will help me alot... I will upvote you in return as much as possible

The heat waves have been really out of the ordinary here in Norway. The water, which is usually very cold, even in the summer, has suddenly become pleasantly warm, and the weather seems to be changing too. The usual rain has been replaced with, well, nothing really. It's just sun and thunder all day. I miss me some ice crystals.

Nice explanation! Somehow I feel that the weather is a bit crazy in the last years. Too hot in the summer and late winter or freezing winter :(

wow nice write up.

I read that there are no two identical snowflakes. It is interesting in general how it happens, this is the formation of snowflakes.

By the way, in Siberia we already promise the first frosts in August.😞

Nature (and science) is so amazing and beautiful!

Nature has a rather strange way of acting, the cycle of snow or cold climates in hot countries can sometimes be so impressive because it would be a rarity to see

I'm going metal detecting this weekend and it's going to be in the 30's!
But I have to do it to get my DTube video's out.

Wou beautiful post my friend

Hi @gavvet, sorry to both you. I just noticed that you haven't claimed your free Byteball tokens from the airdrop yet. All you need to do to claim your tokens is verify your Steem account using SteemConnect.

Here is a post with instructions:
Steem's Byteball Airdrop Instructions

With your reputation, you would get $160 worth of Byteball tokens: $80 liquid (available to cash out right away). The other $80 of tokens are unlocked after one year.
