True, Acehnese farmers smile will be wider if the harvest is really maximum. Farmers deserve a happy smile, because they are food (pangan) heroes. Without farmers growing rice in paddy fields, maybe today we can not eat rice. Thus, the merit (jasa) of farmers are huge for all of us, including to increase the growth of the regional economy.
In my opinion, farmers in Aceh will be happier, smiling broadly, if local governments are able to convince investors to build a modern factory. Like the modern factory in our neighboring area, North Sumatra.
If a modern factory is built in Aceh, local government through local companies can buy rice yields at a higher price. Thus, the rice harvest in Aceh is not transported outside Aceh as it has been so far. So, by itself will produce added value for agricultural production every year, especially rice paddy.
Another benefit, if there are some modern factories, there will be new jobs for some people in Aceh, the children of farmers, so as to reduce unemployment.
If there is no modern factory, then the rice paddy produced by farmers in Aceh who are transported out of Aceh, when rice paddy is processed into rice has been renamed to products outside Aceh. "Aceh has rice paddy, outsiders of Aceh have a name of rice". Rice processed in a modern factory outside Aceh is brought back to Aceh to be sold to us.
So, in my opinion, in the smile of the rice farmers in Aceh there is a hope. Perhaps they hope, local governments can better appreciate the efforts of rice farmers. Because without rice farmers, maybe today we are forced to eat bread.
