Hello little birdies
Bird watching as a science, well as a way of studying their ways of leaving in order to get details on conservation measures, great. Wasn't aware of the same.
The data collected by citizen scientist participants in Project FeederWatch is made available to ornithology researchers. The USA part of Project FeederWatch is conducted by the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. The Canadian part of Project FeederWatch is conducted by Bird Studies Canada.
Checkout the "Winter Bird Highlights 2018" to see how researchers have collated the data and identified trends.
