The universe is not an equation this is a lesson i will never forget

I learned it in the third year of my career and is fundamental. You would think that is pretty obvious, but at that moment I was indoctrinated by the beauty of the theory, and I really believed that the universe could be explained with an equation… and that’s wrong. Then I begun a laboratory with a strict professor, and everything changed. My errors and his lectures made me realize this.

Nature is always right.

The existence controls the theory, in physics and every other science. If the cold of the metal goes to the flame, the heat equation is wrong, the same goes for the second law of thermodynamics if in an explosion entropy diminishes.

That errors come from the beginning of my basic education in physics.

There they only taught me which equation was for different cases, and the explanations were empty. That was like that because we didn’t have the level to understand the mathematical complexity of the truth, and that made me believe that equations tell you everything of the story.

But…

Some videos or posts send this idea some times. One of them is “The secret of the stars”. This talks about the Einstein equation and relativity.

Nonetheless, I think that its extremely wrong the focus in one formula, there are a lot of things that happens in a start and this is just one of them. The content was too much simplified, I think there could be a way of including more facts about how the gravity an the pressure makes the star to maintain it's form or the simple phenomenology of fusion

To make it clear, I love that video, the music is catchy and the science info that they put is correct.

My humble opinion is:

The universe is big and interesting, there has to be a way to explain it without simplifying things too much

That’s all for now, i hope you liked the post. Till next time!
