Why can't the atheists and the christians get along? Because they are both stuck in their dogma.

Christians do not believe in reincarnation. Why? Because the Council of Nicea wrote it out of the bible. (just an example of belief shaping)

Why do christians despise macro-evolution? Because it disproves their beliefs.

Why do atheists believe in macro-evolution? Because anything else disproves their beliefs.

The problem is that neither of them are correct, so no truth will ever be found in either camp. The christians do not even know their own bible. (and that vatican makes sure it stays that way) And atheists don't know enough science to support their ideas.

And Hawkins... is leading the scientific community down a trail away from knowing anything about the universe. i.e. The big bang is an aweful theory. One that will be completely disproven when we get to watch a galaxy being formed.
