A number of predictions about life outside the Earth again burst. One such equation, it seems that humans will not be the victims of alien invasion.
The group of researchers who are members of the Future of Humanity Institute, one of the research centers at the University of Oxford, do a calculation to find out if there really is life in outer space than on Earth. The answer? It may be a bit of a disappointment for people who want to meet aliens.
An analysis named Drake equation is able to calculate the possibility of life in space by combining all the aspects needed to enable the birth of civilization somewhere. From there, it appears the percentage of how likely there is life other than in this Earth.
Through these calculations, they claimed most likely no other life in the universe, with a percentage of 39% to 85%. Meanwhile, if the scope is reduced, only in the Milky Way Galaxy, the possibility of no life other than on Earth becomes larger, ie between 53% to 99.6%.
Ellen Stofan, former chief researcher at NASA, also gave an opinion with the same pessimistic 'pessimistic' about the existence of aliens. According to him, life in space could indeed be there, but not as smart as many people think.
For him, humans may find evidence of simple life on Mars or natural satellites of various planets within the next 10 to 30 years. The signs, according to the 57-year-old woman, would be more like microbes or algae, instead of robotic aliens or super-sophisticated life.
Ellen's words were actually being worked out by astrobiologists. They are observing various exoplanets in search of gas contents that might be produced by creatures like microbes.
In addition, there is also the possibility that there is a microscopic life on a number of natural satellites belonging to Jupiter (Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto) and Saturn (Titan and Enceladus). The organism is thought to be carrying a layer of ice from those months.
In addition to the Future of Humanity Institute and Ellen Stofan, a number of experts in various fields of science and other space also have views on how the actual life form in outer space. They express their opinions through a podcast.
In this case, the experts prefer to hold on to the zoo hypothesis. This theory explains that in fact, there is a more advanced life from Earth in space, but they choose not to communicate with the Blue Planet.
This is thought to be because they do not want interplanetary relations to interfere with the naturally occurring evolution. This theory previously also appeared in various science fiction works, one of them Star Trek.
Regardless of who is the righteous, the absence of aliens, or the reluctance they make contact with humans, can be a blessing for such figures as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Both are known to have ambitions to explore space.
Moreover, the first mentioned name looks hard to do human colonization to Mars. The plan would probably run smoothly if it was not interfered with by other life in outer space.
